New Iron not starting

\n\nHello Community, i`ve got my new Umi Iron yesterday. I connected the phone to the charger, red light went on, then i tried to turn on the phone by pushing the power button and nothing happened. I waited till the light was showing green, pushed the power button again, still no reaction from the phone.
When i connect the phone to my computer (linux-system) the green light on the phone lights up and the phone shows up in the file manager. I can browse to the folders of the phone, if i push the power button the phone disappears. Can anybody help or do i have to return the phone? Many thanks in advance!!

It seems more like a display issue to me.
I don't know if you could do anything with it. (other than replace the screen)

This can happen if you set the screen to always ON when connected to charger. Try to long press the power button for at least 10 second and maybe it will power off. If you made that setting, then disable it.

Thank you so far. Remember, the phone is brand new, i did not make any settings because i did not see anything happen on my display.
When trying the things you told me i realized that the phone is powered on. Because when i press the volume button i hear the android sound for changing the volume. But the display is black.
I cannot power the phone off by pressing the power button, i have tryed that on my old phone, it does always reboot.

So I suspect a bad connection between the LCD and the motherboard. Maybe it's just disconnected a  little bit but you have to open it. I suggest you to flash the phone with Spft before to be sure it's not a software issue even if I don't believe but it's the first thing to do.

Bikebaer Hello, I would try to hold down the button on / off for 10 seconds until the phone is turned off. Then, try again to turn it on, you have to press the button for 2-3 seconds because lights.

If pressing the power button alone for 10 secs had not effect, you still can try to press all the three buttons together for some seconds to power off your phone. Your seller still could activate that function before shipping while they were testing your phone. The issue of the 'screen always on' setting is not yet discovered but a know problem about Iron. It has a little chance (although not perfectly impossible), that your phone arrived with a defective screen.

This happened to me two weeks after buying the thing, UMI are ignoring me and the seller is AVOID this phone AVOID UMI, not replying to messages, tweets. UMI sell phones with good chips but shit wiring from the look of it
