My Z is same.  My reseller (Banggood) offered me 50% refund.  I told them to get stuffed and that  ...

My UMI Z Pro has now stopped recharging. There is a red light coming on and going off slowly but the phone does not start anymore.
I noticed very hot phone during last recharges and probably the battery is gone.

I contacted the reseller DealExtreme and I am waiting for their reply.

I am disappointed that UMI produces such an unreliable and perhaps dangerous product.

I will keep everyone updated.

Yes.. That's the first thing to do.. Back up your data and use another one..don't use this phone in the meantime. Obviously for safety reasons.

purchased from DX.com and they have not replied yet.

Waiting for their reply.

But how come batteries get swolen in less than 2 months, even lesser phones last longer.

Edited by chooks06 at 2017-5-29 21:10 \n\nThere's no straightforward answer..

It very much depends on how the user charges it and for how long..

When I charge my phone using the provided charger, I remove whatever case is installed and make sure sufficient ventilation is available.

Then again, I TRY not to charge till 100% and if it happens to reach 100%, not to let it go beyond 8 hours of charging (I check the charge state when I need to go relieve myself in the middle of the night). But then, this may not necessarily work the same for everyone.

And the last probability is that the battery is a lemon...

Hope your seller provides you with a reasonable solution.

And that's the only real reason.
How long it's charged for, and the not reaching 100% stuff is all not correct.

Good advice in these posts. The Samsung phones were burning because the batteries had no room to expand into. Stop using immediately, disconnect the battery and put it outdoors if possible where it can't start a fire. "Extreme danger Will Robinson!"

I really appreciate your feedback.

I usually only charge my phone when it is below 10% and charge it to almost 100% every time. I am using MI5, Nubia Z9 mini for more than an year now and same charging habit has produced no ill effects on any other handset so far.

I shared this so that whoever has bought it or going to buy it take care about battery and consider this.

No hard and fast rule.

There are quite a few schools of thought regarding battery charging. What appears to work for some may not be considered even logical by others. To each their own.

Stick to whatever methodology if it yields satisfactory results.

I don't know how many people will use any phone until the battery is really conked, but everything else is still working satisfactorily. Maybe only me? Haha. By then battery replacement could be cheaper.
