Should I return my UMI Iron?

\n\nHI, I have just received my UMI Iron having bought it from Amazon UK. It is a lovely looking phone and is really slick. BUT I have what seems to be a common problem the click and pop in system sounds and between songs plus a distortion of music almost like old vinyl crackles amd pops.

Looking at other posts it seems that this is a common problem with the Iron and there is no solution to this problem

Have tried setting the maximum volume to 80 but makes no difference.

It seems that this is not unique to my phone but with every Iron, is this right?

How likely is it that this problem could be fixed with an update or is it a hardware problem?

Should I return my Iron  as listening to music is not enjoyable, if I get a replacement will I have the same problems as before so better going for a refund?

PS have tried 3 different pairs of head/ear phones that work fine in my other phone but all have same problem so know it is the Iron

I have the same problems of yours, I esperansado to update lost the opportunity to ask my refund

ask your refund and buy a better phone A MEIZU talves or XIAOMI but nothing that is umi

So it looks like

1) The sound is a hardware fault with the UMI Iron?

2) it cannot/will not be solved by an update

This is really outrageous that UMI can sell the Iron knowing that there is this fault. How can you build a good  reputation by doing this!!!  Sound is an integral part of a phone if they can't get this right.

The clicking and popping sound beetween sound is a common issue. I think this is more a hardware fault but maybe I'm wrong.
All Iron seems to suffer from this issue. So a replacement probably will suffer from the same issue.
I haven't experienced disorted sound, but I tweaked the sound levels in engineering mode because the default was too loud for me.

Clicking sound between tracks could be mitigated to minimum by raising the buffer amount,
if the used player has this option.

Otherwise, I have not experienced distortion of sounds, except when only on beeping sound when maximizing the volume through the side buttons.

If the player supports gapless playback, you will not hear clicking sound between tracks. (I haven't found correlation between the buffer size and clicking noise.)
It works fine in PowerAMP and Spotify.

I got almost all products Umi. I sold them all and the only one I kept it eMax as reserve phone.

I always thought it's normal and I did not recognize this as a defect :-)
In my UMI IRON also it occurs, but I more concerned about other things - free USB transfer, frequent problems with WiFi when using Bluetooth, no compass, frequent inability to end the call (blank screen) and others.
