Future ROM Suggestions

Hi Iron UMIers,

Given most of us will be using our Irons with the latest ROM V1.5 (get here if you haven't updated yet, or update via OTA), I thought it would be a good idea to open up a thread where we can post suggestions for any future ROM updates. There has already been suggestions around the headphone audio issue and the camera 2 api so let's think of some other things.

What do you want to see added or improved on your Iron that could be done via a ROM update?

- don't know if IRON memory supports Trimming function, but it would be nice to have. Lagfix free doesn't work at the moment.
- add more configuration options to the launcher and locker(widgets). At least some basic ones - grid resizing etc.
- port cyanogenmod and miui

EDIT:
- mounting IRON as USB stick doesn't work for me (windows10)
- transfer rate beteen IRON and PC is slow as hell and I'm not talking about small files. I was transfering 1 gig movies and it feels like forever. Maybe it could be improved some way?

Another issue to fix:

In Stock Cam App if you switch to Frontal Cam with the phone in Horizontal mode the app crash and exit.
P.S: No problem with another cam app

Please improve the proximity sensor during talks. Often there is a problem with ending call because the screen is blank.

-advanced power menu (to take screenshots and go in to recovery)

Hi,
Google Plus application can't be installed. Please fix that.
In Google Play Store it says that device is not compatible and when installing APK directly, it ends with unknown error.

Sorry but don't have H+ in my coverage here. When I travel in the biggest town I have 4G so don't know for H+ (no more H+ with Hammer)

\n\n- Add ability to choice location to save images and videos from the camera (phone memory/memory card) in the camera app
- More camera improvements - might be able to slightly remove noise from photos? The pictures are very noisy. Under ideal conditions, it is not that bad, but in other cases it does not look good.
- Camera application does not remember that we chose for example to automatically detect the scenes. After I restart the application, the choice is not remembered.
- Add Quick boot option in the Accessibility (currently there is no Quick option in the menu and applications are not close after phone restart)
- Add encryption in menu
- Activate compass (if is there ;-)
- Google+ app is not compatible with this device. I know it's not entirely your fault, but maybe you can somehow influence this state of affairs.
- The sound quality from the rear speaker is not the best, but overall it is a lot better than it was :-)
- Perhaps we can also slightly improve GPS?

Redmi Note 2 (MT6795) uses it based on Android 5.1.1 so I'm sure it can be ported.
Patchrom only supports v6 on KitKat in this moment so I'm not sure how you can do this, but maybe later it will be supported.

This is the only ROM I'm really interested in.

- Trimming is supported since Android 4.3. Do you think it is turned off on Iron?
From LagFix FAQ: "Some kernels mount storage with -discard option. This option forces kernel to call TRIM operation after all write and delete operations. That means that functionality of this app is built-in, you don't need LagFix in such case."

One more feature what I really miss is a more flexible dialer.

I have the problem that the T9 search doesn't search for accented characters.
Eg.: If you try to find someone whose name is Vörös and start typing 867... it doesn't show him. Using the contacts app and full keyboard takes much more time.

I have used CM11 on an older phone and it was able to search for accented characters.

Don't know if Trimm is turned on or off. Lagfix gives me message that it is not supported on IRON and I don't know if our kernel use -discard option. Maybe some UMI dev could confirm this. Otherwise our phone will get sluggish over time...
