I've just get the Iron and have this popping sound problem.
It's really annoying.

There is a small pop when a sound starts what is acceptable, but there is a bugger when a sound stops what is really loud. It doesn't that loud compared to the default sound levels, but that was way too high for me.
I re-calibrated the bottom half of the sound levels in engineering mode and with lower sounds, the pop is really loud. Almost hurts.

I'm thinking about sending it back.

Someone has tried to "play" with all the Viper4android headset option's?
Someone has tried to install the V1.3 ROM to be sure the clicking noise issue has not appears with an update?

I've tried all Viper4Android driver with no changes.
I don't think flashing back previous ROM could help.
Still think that this is a hardware issue.
If you lower the volume to 0 and change track, the popping noise still there.

I've done a quick resource about the topic and found out that there was galaxy note 3s and galaxy 5s with this problem too.
I have found two possible reason:

1. "It can happen if the coupling capacitor for the audio output is leaky (the DC level shift on the motherboard side of the capacitor isn't supposed to leak through to the earphone jack side, and it is). In the case of a phone, that means a motherboard replacement, because no one replaces components any more."

The only problem is that with the super high-end Directpath technology there is no need for a coupling capacitor.
See page 14: http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/tpa6136a2.pdf

2. The problem is related to powersaving mode. Some people was able to eleminate the problem with turning power saving mode off. It seems like the system shuts down the sound subsystem every time a sound stops.
I've tried turning off smart automatic power save, but it doesn't help.
But maybe this is also can be fixed with a software update though.

bencebacsi, I don't want to disassemble the phone in the warranty period.

Someone mentioned on the Facebook group that "Umi just told be that the popping sound will be corrected in next update v1.6 which will be released soon (they couldn't give me an exact date)"
So I'm wainting for the update.

Good news thanks rhen.
Hope it's a good fix because they should fix the freezes/restart issue in 1.5 and it's not the case without Engineer mode tweaks.
But we will have an 1.6 and that is a good news herself.

Good info rhen!, Thanks!
Can you please provide the URL of the v1.6 rumor?
For all others I want to remind you that your warranty may expire before v1.6 comes out. So you better decide what you do ... wait or claim.I wait.
