Black Screen after OTA

\n\nHi everyone,

I have a new Umi Plus, was quite happy with it. When I first got it an update showed up and I installed it. Yesterday got a notification of another update, quite large, 1.2 gb, I downloaded it and this morning it was ready to be installed. I had 96% battery so I proceeded. It was "checking downloaded file" when I looked last, after about 10 minutes I looked and the screen was white... after another 10 minutes I checked and the screen was off and the notification led was pulsing, I turned the screen on and it was black but you could see that the screen light up. I still got notifications from the phone, sound and vibration, but the screen was always black.

Got no image on boot, recovery or any mode. Only lighted black screen.

Tried flashing 20161228_c239v55_kw_u3 (Plus V3.01_20161228 Android N ROM - SPFT + OTA release) with SPFT as download and firmware upgrade, it flashed but the phone remains the same about the black screen issue.

Anyone got any sugestion? I'm kind of desperate

Please try older ROM version from here

Please check all partitions on SPFT. If doesn't help you need change SPFT option from firmware upgrade to format + download.
After that you need rewrite IMEI numbers with SN writer from this link

Hi... well I tried with the 20161009 and 20161019 roms both as "download" and "firmware upgrade" each and nothing, the system flashes Ok, but the phone boots and still nothing shows up. I can feel the butons vibration when the system loads but that and the backlight is all there is, the screen shows nothing... I think somehow the screen is deffective.

Any other thing I could try?

You will need to disassemble the phone and disconnect the battery and then reconnect.

That seems a little invasive and unrelated... do you have a source of that? I'm trying not to alter the phone physically in case I have to send it back cause I'm still under warranty (waiting for the store to come back from new year's holiday)... But thanks for the tip

Probably store will say that you voided warranty as you update your device.
But while you using SPFT please change from upgrade firmware to format + download. Let see what happen. Make sure check all partitions in SPFT.
After that you need use SN writer to restore your IMEI numbers.

It happening the same thing with my phone when I try to flash with any Android 6 ROM. But if I use V3.01_20161228 or V3.01_20161209 everything is fine.

UMI phones are stylish and look really nice. The Umi engineers do an excellent job in design, they are vert smart and bring out a new phone almost every month. Now how brilliant is that! Also, my UMi Rome matches the design of my new Italian business suit and the back cover is exactly the same color as my new shoes. When I'm on business in my Italian suit and pull out my UMi Rome,  people at the business meetings are very impressed. The back cover also matches the color of my American Express Centurian Business card - another fantastic plus for the UMi Rome. Whow what a beautiful phone!

I've had the phone a little less than 11 months and it hasn't worked for the last 3 months. The battery has swollen to 4 times it's size and when the phone did work the phone got very hot. The screen doesn't work. I press one icon and something else loads.

But the fact that the UMi Rome doesn't work doesn't matter. It matches my suiit, shoes, charge card, so what else can I ask for in a mobile phone?

I love your humor and feel sorry for your inconvenience but your post is still off-topic here. This topic is about UMi Plus.
Fortunuately you can buy a new battery for your Rome just for a few bucks, and replacing it hopefully will terminate the tension of the screen caused by the pressure of the swollen battery.

Nothing, tried 20161009 and 20161019 as format all + download and nothing.
I don't think the warranty is voided for aplying an OTA update. And that's what caused the problem.

I'll try to drain the battery to see if that helps in any way.

Such a shame cause i've been trying to buy an umi plus since november because it's really beautifull and nice, and now that I have it, it lasted less than a week... If I can't fix it and have to send it back to China I think I'll have to take a refund because this lefts a very sour taste in my mouth
