Edited by Eisenherz at 2015-8-14 00:12 \n\nI use a headset and everytime before a sound starts I get a loud electrical click popping noise.
So if for example I play 2 songs then I get a click at the start of song 1 and song two.
I changed headsets - no change. so it is the Umi Iron.

I have 1.5 UmiRom

Please help!
This is very frustrating!

Hi all. After updating to ROM v1.6 the audio click has become much softer and not as frequent. I'd suggest updating and seeing if that helps you.
Hopefully it will be completely eliminated in the future!

I have received my Umi Iron from Amazon in UK and can report I have both the problems 1. Phone freez ...

Hi nervncalm,

I've reported this issue to UMI again to see if I can get any feedback. The fact that it is popping up on many (if not all) phones I think is a good sign as it could be an indicator of a software fault rather then a few handsets having a hardware fault.

Also, please encourage the other users on the UK threads to join up and comment here. I think the more users we have asking about it, the quicker we are likely to hear back about a possible fix.

Cheers,
Gruffles

bencebacsi, I don't want to disassemble the phone in the warranty period.

Someone mentioned on the Facebook group that "Umi just told be that the popping sound will be corrected in next update v1.6 which will be released soon (they couldn't give me an exact date)"
So I'm wainting for the update.

I've done a quick resource about the topic and found out that there was galaxy note 3s and galaxy 5s with this problem too.
I have found two possible reason:

1. "It can happen if the coupling capacitor for the audio output is leaky (the DC level shift on the motherboard side of the capacitor isn't supposed to leak through to the earphone jack side, and it is). In the case of a phone, that means a motherboard replacement, because no one replaces components any more."

The only problem is that with the super high-end Directpath technology there is no need for a coupling capacitor.
See page 14: http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/tpa6136a2.pdf

2. The problem is related to powersaving mode. Some people was able to eleminate the problem with turning power saving mode off. It seems like the system shuts down the sound subsystem every time a sound stops.
I've tried turning off smart automatic power save, but it doesn't help.
But maybe this is also can be fixed with a software update though.

Edited by Eisenherz at 2015-8-15 18:04 \n\nAll sounds are perfect with bluetooth headset. All songs are fine on my PC. I tried different players on the Umi Iron but the click sound is the same.
The problem is with headset or speakers connected to the audio jack.
The click is between sounds. It also appears for system sounds (like lock screen). It sounds like I would pull out the cable from the jack.
Shall I make a video so you can hear?

Same click effects with locked screen.
Please see video Part2 it shows that the click happens also without button interaction between songs.

This seems really annoying. Even seeking generate it. I couldn't use this for music listening in this state.
I think this is not a software related issue.

I hope my Iron will be fine. Fingers crossed.

Edited by Eisenherz at 2015-8-18 00:23 \n\nThank for the idea but unfortunately it is not the solution.
The music is less loud but the click is as loud as it was before.
I set 50 instead of previous 124.
I really appreciate your support! Thank you very much! I am confident that you will find a solution.

Please do not leave me stranded!
Do you think it is a hardware problem?

Hi there,

I also have this issue. Have you had any luck searching elsewhere for answers, I cant find anything.

I also have another issue where the in-line buttons on earphones (plugged into the audio jack) wont work either. Have tried a number of earphones / headphones. Even some 'Made for android' specific headphones.

Any help would be greatly received.
