change startup screen

Hi all

That Umi boot screen  is so bright it is like  staring into the oblivion.
Does anyone know of a reliable way to change it please?  Even a solid black would be fine.

Hi,

You can edit the logo.bin file with LogoBuilder
You can download the SP Flash Tool Version ROM (that contains the logo.bin file) from HERE.
Replace the first and last images with the same, edited one. You may use the pic I attached to this post.
After finished, you can flash the new logo.bin with SP Flash Tool, or install the created update.zip file from recovery.

Can I ask, does this method mean i have to flash my phone with a new rom, therefore losing settings and data?

No, you only need to flash the logo.bin file, not the whole firmware. All settings and data will be kept untouched.

Sorry bencebasci, one more question.

I have downloaded 'SPFT: SP_Flash_Tool_v5.1532.rar ' and unzipped.  However there is no file called logo.bin in there.  Please advise.

Yes, SPFT is just the flasher application. Before flashing, uncheck all partitions but the logo. You don't even need the flasher tool if you install the logo (update.zip) from recovery.

And I guess that I need to load the scatter, deselect all except logo.bin and then tell SPFT where my edited logo.bin can be found, then connect phone and hit 'Download'?

Almost correct. You have to double click on the path line of the logo partition to brows for an other (created by you) logo.bin file. Then you have to click the Download button first, then connect your powered off phone to USB. This order is important.
