Another audio issue - distortion on earphones :(

I have the same problem as the OP. Sound is heavily distorted. It sounds like the signal is overdriven. I tested it with several different headphones, external speakers and a real audio tuner, so the problem definately on the phone's side. I guess it's a hardware failure. I wonder if there is no QC at the factory. This just mustn't happen since the phone was advertiesd for its excellent audio features. I'm very disappointed.

Could you record and share a sample audio of the distorted sound? Anyway, does it take effect if you reduce the sound volume or you get the same kind of distortion even at lower volume levels?

Go to Engineering mode -> Hardware Testing -> Audio -> Headset Mode.
Change Sip to Media.
After this, set the Value and Max Vol to the following:

Level 0: 16 50
1: 32 50
2: 48 50
3: 64 50
4: 96 50
5: 112 50
6: 128 50
7: 146 50
8: 160 50
9: 168 50
10: 176 50
11: 184 50
12: 192 50
13: 200 50
14: 208 50

These values works for me perfectly.

Wow, If I hear this before I've written my previous post I would not advice what I had written.
I think this is more like a hardware fault. Not exactly the same distortion what I expected when you said sounds like overdriven.
Just check out your 50% sample wave on Soundcloud. It doesn't seems like it is overdriven.

This is not about settings. Your phone has a hardware defection. You should return it for a replacement. Keep these recordings for your reseller as proofs.
