I received my z pro a week ago and I must say that after all the hype about it, it turned to be really disappointing... And made me wish I had bought the huawei p8 lite instead... It has so many bugs, faults and missing features that I might still send it back!
All bugs listed here now:
- Battery: huge problem, does not last at all. WiFi keeps using battery and battery stats show WiFi as using mist of it even when I manually turn it off!
- battery stats: bogus and useless. My WiFi is using almost 300% of the battery and phone idle over 260%, what???
- many settings are just gone, like stop WiFi scanning, app battery optimization (I try to set it, when I go back no apps are optimized...). The battering saving mode in settings is stupid... If I make a custom mode and, for example, its set to have data on, it WILL insinstently turn it on even if I manually disable it.
- microphone has ridiculously low quality, people I call complain they cannot hear me well and this was perfect on my 5 year old nexus 4.
- alarms won't sound if screen is off! I just tested this morning, if I set a wake up alarm NOTHING happens if the screen is off (and maybe the phone is sleeping). If phone has the screen on it works. Maybe something to do with the tweaking I have been doing to optimize battery, but it's definitely a big problem! I could have been late to take my kids to school, weren't it for the downstairs kid yelling his lungs out at 6:00 in the morning!
Camera: all that hype and its just no better than any other camera on a half decent phone. Super night mode is bullshit, it just bumps the iso and gives very grainy pictures, nothing else. There is for sure NO pixel binning, as I KNOW what pixel biining is, all our scientific grade cameras use it, even though its adjacent pixel binning and not from a second sensor.
- Update to nougat 7.0 OTA: where is that anyway??? Its being promised even since before the phone launched and its always "soon" or "next week". I will not go into manually updating the phone, an OTA update has been long promised!
- Will auto convert long SMS to MMS, there is no setting to change that. I PAY for MMS!
- Have 2 (different) copies of some apps, like clock, callendar, camera and others- wifi and GSM reception are poor judging by the fact that my 5 year old nexus 4 was better

If things keep up like this I will consider my phone defective and return it for a refund. Its clearly NOT working as advertised!

Ok, I don't think I get your reply... I paid full price for the phone so I expect it to be fully functional. Period! To go around flashing a phone one needs knowledge, time and be ready to deal with an out of warranty brick. And I also don't see why I should be told to buy an 800€ phone to see my problems go away. Plus, I did no more to the phone that what the menus on the phone allow for, so I don't see how my problems are self inflicted. What is your explanation for the alarms not sounding unless the phone is on and one actually goes into the clock app (tried 2 different apps). If you tell me which ones are self inflicted I will gladly revert whatever I did (using the MENUS and NOT going around messing with my phone).
My system is out of the box + automatic OTA update received the first day I used it. If the software does not work properly it's not my fault and I should not be liable to try and fix this, not on a brand new phone. My 199€ Nexus 4 (when bought new from google) never had any major issues like this one and very frequent updates were pushed to fix minor annoyances. So, again, I don't see your point about paying 800€ to get a phone that functions the way it's supposed to... Umidigi are now pushing out new models faster than bamboo grows and it won't be long until their flagship is deemed "old" and they abandon all support... that's my 2 cents on that.

Hi. Don't worry, reflashing the stock system can't kill the device unless you do something out of the instructions.
I personally recommend to do a clean install (delete all your data and apps, do a backup before start the process) so you can start again without any problems, the old apps files on your phone memory can interfere with a new installation of the same apps and you could face with problems again.
Here is all what you need to reflash lastest stock firmware for the UMIDIGI Z Pro:
Lastest ROM: http://community.umidigi.com/thread-7333-1-1.html
Lastest ROM for 4.4V 3800 mAh: http://community.umidigi.com/thread-8488-1-1.html DO NOT FLASH THE 4.4V 3800 mAh VERSION UNLESS YOU CHANGED THE BATTERY CAME WITH THE PHONE
How-to: http://community.umidigi.com/for ... &extra=page%3D1

Also, a Android 7.1.1 update for UMI Z and UMIDIGI Z Pro is on progress, if you want you can flash the beta Android 7.1.1 for your device but, as it is a beta, you can face with software problems that would be solved on the final public version. Read the list of known bugs before if you want to give it a try, remember that you can always go back to the stable Android 6.0 ROM with the links we dealt with earlier.

If you need further assistance don't hesitate on contact me (only on this thread, no PM).

That's a huge list of major problems. I had minor difficulties with my Z Pro and Touch which were fixed by reflashing the ROM. Having a corrupted operating system shouldn't happen but it seemed to be the solution for some users that had faulty phones. Read this carefully and see if you feel confident about it. Don't be tempted to use the Android 7 beta or the 4th ROM that is an update for a bigger battery installation. Good luck http://community.umidigi.com/thread-7333-1-1.html

Thanks for the reply, but I won't go into trying things that may permanently ruin my phone. An OTA has been promised as in long overdue!
I'm actually left wondering if I didn't receive a knock-off, the back of my phone is different from every picture I've seen all over the net, It lacks the big letters that say CE0700.

One problem I overlooked in the list: long SMS will automatically convert to MMS and there is no setting to change this! And I pay for MMS, not included in my plan!!! Wish I had bought something else locally, they will never address my issues and if I return it I know I'll have to fight a lot for a refund... Bought on dealextreme.

Edited by pcspinheiro at 2017-5-22 18:03 \n\nYet another issue I found that slipped my mind: I have a duplicated of a slightly different version for many system apps: clock, calendar, camera and others that I cant recall now. Cold that have been due to me setting up the phone from a nearby (my old nexus) phone? I think I will try a factory reset when I'm back at home and have wifi... but I'd really like to hear UMIDIGI's reply to all my issues with a brand new, "flagship" phone.

Update on the alarms not sounding issue. It's not due to the stock clock app. Installed a new clock app and same crap: alarms will not sound until phone screen is on and I go into the clock app. THEN it will sound, even if it's already past the time. This is SO STUPID! Will I really have to use my Nexus 4 as an alarm instead of selling it on???

I can confirm some of the issues listed in this thread. I will test the others as well, but I do think that everyone is experiencing more or less the same issues.
In particular, the wifi and awake reports seem to indicate that the phone is continuously using wifi (even when disabled everywhere) and is continuously awake.

On every android 6.0 phone SMS will convert after 3rd full SMS to MMS. You can't change this. Also if you use any special signs your SMS maximum length drop from 160/text .

a lot of the problems you noticed are self inflicted. No problems here. And reflashing your phone wont hurt your umidigi.
Perhaps paying 800 euro/dollars for a samsung will solve your problem.
What android version had your nexus?  If you think every android version is exchange able then your way of.

The suggested reflashing is the first step to redeem anything.
If you won't do that and just bloat you're frustration what good do you think that does? Well???
It won't solve your problems....

They don't know what you did. But they know what they did and can help you when your system is kind of out of the box.

Step by step.

If any hardware related problem was there you would get freezes of reboots.
