Android 7 official ROM bugs and limitations

Hi all,

I've got an UMI Plus since 4 days. Everything worked ok until I received and installed the Nougat upgrade via OTA.

The compilation I have installed is UMI PLUS.V3.01_20161228

Bugs and limitations I've found so far:

-Capacitive buttons long press functions doesn't work at all. Specifically, I tried mapping menu button long press to open recent apps -with Nova- but it doesn't work (and it worked perfectly in Android 6). Besides, as I understand, Android 7 has built-in gestures to multitasking and show recent apps using that long press gestures... but it doesn't work at all. The only workaround I've found is to activate the virtual keypad in Settings > Navigation bar; but obviously this is not an elegant solution.  

-Most of fullscreen apps aren't capable of keeping the screen on after the stablished suspend time.

I tried doing a factory reset, without success for both bugs.

Another issues I've noticed:

-Some additional options that were available in the Settings menu, now are missing. I liked specially the possibility of inserting the battery % INTO the battery icon.

-The language pack is very very poor, with a lot of untranslated entries all over the rom's menus. I'm using Spanish language.

I have upgraded my UMI Super to build "UMI SUPER.V7.01_20170123" today and there is one MAJOR PROBLEM, namely the phone dialer does not work, i.e. I cannot make any phone calls! Whenever I open the dialer and try to enter the number in the dialpad I get the problem -- the dialer crashes and I get the message "Phone has stopped --- Open app again". I open it again and the same thing happens. Apart from this, everything else seems to be perfect with Android 7, e.g. that awful battery block in the status bar is gone and only the number percentage is shown.

Actually, I was also disappointed that "adb shell" doesn't give me root shell anymore, but that's ok.

But the crashing dialer problem is absolutely critical, of course. Without the dialer one can only make calls by creating a contact first, which is silly. One should memorise all the thousands of phone numbers by heart and enter them manually each time ;)

Three months ago I bought a UMI super Phablet, great phone and
tablet, but last week the update for android 7 came through on the
phone, so I updated the phone.

BUT that is when the trouble began I use the Bluetooth because I have
haring aids, but now I cannot phone out as the phone buzzes loudly and
the net work drops out, it shows no net work, to receive the network
drops out and there is communicating with the person on the other end.
BUT if I turn off the BLUETOOTH I can make a call but the receiver can
not hear me or very faintly, I have found that the volume has dropped
down too this is impossible for me as I need to hear through my hearing
aids, to use the speaker phone it hasn't got the volume anymore.

the phone still works a  great small tablet

I have tried to reset the phone but it comes back now to android 7 and
the same issues.

После обновления на андроид 7.0 тоже стали проблемы с телефоном.Перестала работать кнопка вызова пишет сбой программы.Зачем спрашивается выпускать ещё сырой и не проверенный андроид 7.0. с лагами.Что теперь делать???? Вы так всех клиентов потеряете.Телефон UMI MAX.Скиньте сюда хотябы андроид 6.0 под UMI MAX

I am having an Umi super. After an update some months ago (1 or 2 i think) the phone was going good.
Now for 2 months the camera does not focus.
Also the gps never worked fine after more than 10 hours trying to fix it and i think that now works ( i will write you tomorrow about it).
And the best is that now after update to Android 7 when  i speak on the phone i have to yell because no one hears me.
And the last one is that we have 2 phones that were bought the same day form different sellers and the phones have different
problems.
I try not to be a negative but Umi should first check if the V7 was good and after give it to humanity

The running joke on this forum seems to be devs/support asking to do a "factory reset". Since you did, the only thing left is to get rid of the device. I've seen people here waiting for months for fixes to na avail. I know my patience is being tested...

I am not sure about that version (V3.01_20161228) i received V7.01_20170123 via ota and I am pretty satisfied with it. Only bug that I had is with battery, which was rapidly discharging, but after factory reset that problem was solved.
Regarding "inserting the battery % INTO the battery icon" it's not about umi and this rom it's android easter egg sort off.
You can activate it by long pressing gear button (settings) and it will be activated. It will then show in settings menu as System UI tuner
wher you can set this battery % "bug"

Thanks! The issue of the % is solved. The most annoying bug is the one concerning the long press gestures. It's strange that difference between versions... So with your rom aren't there problems using the long press gestures with the home and menu buttons?

The super has problems when making a call the network closes and in recieving there is no voice
