I have been having some issues with my phone (it came 3 days ago). Whenever I play videos at 720p or 1080p 60fps, they lag and freeze for no apparent reason. I would have to scroll through for it to continue playing normally and then it happens again for no reason. Is there a way to fix this? By the way, I updated to Android 7.0

I cannot confirm such issues playing back with the YouTube app. Here's a screen recorded video where a UMi Plus with Nougat was playing back a YouTube video at 1080p 60fps and recording the screen at the same time (AZ Screen Recorder) with 1080p@30fps and some lags caused only by the encoder (in the recorded video) but the playback was perfectly smooth. Checked with many other videos. The Helio P10 processor can decode max 1080p@30fps videos but downsampling works perfectly.

Was this happening on Android 6.0 too.
I think that if you have good Internet connection and this is not connection problem you should perform factory reset (settings - backup and reset - factory data reset)

I am not sure if it was happening before as I didn't watch many videos that time (only had it for 2 days on 6.0) I will try that and see what happens. Thanks for the answer

Edited by Rikku at 2017-1-9 14:05 \n\nFor some reason it became a lot worse... Can you as a moderator repor this to Umi so they can maybe release an update (assuming I'm not the only one with the problem.) As I said this only happens on videos with 60fps

I have copied a 1080p 60 FPS video in the internal memory from a Runcam2. The default player can't play it but MX Player Pro plays it using hardware acceleration (HW+). It's not as smooth as seen on the PC. It seems that there is frame drops that creates visual stuttering. Changing the decoder options in MX Player or drawing options in Android dev options makes it way worse.
Could it be that 1080p at 60 FPS is too much for this phone to handle ?

Thank you MarcinP,
They make (almost) clear that 1080p 30 FPS is the limit for the decoder. Although it seems it can do better than this but not 60 FPS at high bit rate. The Runcam 2 is a very small but high quality action camera for a drone. My sample was encoded at 32.2 Mb/s 60 FPS. The "phone" has a hard time decoding it but it's not awful, just badly stuttering. Not all people are sensitive to this effect though.
