Dear UMi Z users,

Since a lot of you are wondering about the expected release date of an Android 7.0 update for UMi Z, I'm sharing the info that we know now.
We are still waiting for the Andoroid 7.0 source code for the Helio X27 platform from MediaTek. According to their promise, we should receive it by March, so approximately in 1 or 2 weeks.
The development of the Android 7 ROM can be started as soon as we've received that source code. If that will happen in time, you can expect the first Android 7.0 version to be released in early April.
If there will be an early phase of the development, when we have an already working but not bug free version, we're going to open a beta testing.
Thank you for your attention.

Have a good one,
Ben

New info on 7th April
Sorry but bad news here. The UMi dev. team is waiting for a driver patch from MediaTek (no detailed info about that) and that's unexpectedly postponed until the end of this month. Without that patch a bootable ROM cannot be created.
We are sorry for your inconvenience and ask you to be a bit more patient. The Android 7.0 upgrade will be released for UMI Z, that's sure.

UMI, would you take the opp when coding the Nougat for the UMIDIGI Z PRO and make an option to change the Home Button Long Press to open the Google Now On Tap instead of opening the recent apps panel?!?!? Same way, please make an option to change the left button to open the recent apps panel instead of opening the configuration panel, making your phone as "normal" android please. Thanks a lot !

Bonjour,

The mobile network (4G or 3G) from my umi z has stopped working since the update for Android 7. Now  ...

Please dial *#06* to check whether you still have your IMEI numbers or they're gone.

I've got the mobile data problem after the Nougat update, too. After using Wi-Fi connection the phone won't switch back to mobile data. I need to switch Wi-Fi completely of on the phone and reboot.

- changing to a new APN didn't help
- flashing Nougat again to the phone didn't help
-taking the SIM card out of the phone to reset the connection didn't help

From time to time the "SIM Processor" sign pops up on my phone, too.

The chip inside the sim card. That's basically a microcomputer.

@bencebasci,
Do you know if Umi is aware of the BUG switching from Wlan to Mobile Network?
Is there any Plan to fix this problem?
Some Users went back to 6.0 Android.
For your information. I did first OTA and than i tryed flash. No better behaviour. APN new didn't help.

It´s always a lottery when you buy a chinese brand, especially with MediaTek SoC. Some brands are better some are worse. Specs are wonderful, but the software is not always polished and optimized. They compete with low prices.  You could say that Xiaomi has a superior products and in many aspects you would be right, but Xiaomi is a big company and it benefits from it´s community that helps reporting and fixing bugs in MIUI. If it is such a big issue I recommend buying something based on Snapdragon SoC - it has usually much better support.

Calm their s#it down?

When UMI Support tells you to flash the rom on every issue you have. When 20 users report an issue with rotating screen, Oh! Have you tried flashing the newest rom yet?
When some bugs since the start haven't been acknowledged and yet haven't been fixed. And while you have hope for them to be working on it, they are releasing device after device after device.
Not to forget almost exploding batteries due to expansion. Telling them it's their own fault for not charging the correct way.

Do you think they hire new developers for every new device they Launch? Neither do I. I'm pretty sure they are spreading development resources for those tasks, which is why it takes so long for bugs to be fixed.

I strongly dissagree with your point of view.
Even if I have paid 100 USD for the phone it should have the quality and functionality as it has been advertised.
Should I say it should work flawlesly.

I probably know the answer to my question already, but It would be really, really. really cool if you could share the source code when you release Nougat for UMI Z!!
Then we could start making many kinds of Android flavors... and UMI Z would be a diverse phone that would have a Android for everyone's needs!
And big Thanx for the news update!

Meanwhile you can do a fix for the camera. It take very very bad videos.
You (UMI) advertised that it's a miraculous/wonderful camera.
All my video took with the back camera are having a blur. I don't understand why. Videos took from the front one are ok.
Third party cameras also took video in the same way.

Please fix it this until you release something else.

On the meantime, you can fix all the discussed bugs on the UMI Z forum, many little annoying bugs, and one important bug - battery drainage.
Please repair on 6.0 to make the Z good functioning device.

I would agree with most of the guys here. Umi i think you should fix the current issues discussed on the forum and then you can port of it on Nougat. Perhaps @humbercab may be able to help if he's experienced programmer or know people.
