Dear beta testers,

You can find the SP Flash Tool package of the first beta release here. Please download and flash it, then post your feedback in this thread.
Please read the Welcome thread before starting, it contains important information. Link: http://community.umidigi.com/thread-5265-1-1.html

The list of known bugs:
  • No back camera! - Accessing the back camera (by any app) reboots the phone*
  • No flash LED
  • On-screen buttons pop up even if you've disabled them
  • No Harlequin LED (only basic notification LED settings)
  • Other minor bugs

*You can use such apps that open the front camera as default.

Disclaimer
Please note, experimenting with the system software of your phone may permanently brick it driving to lose your warranty. Important! Retailers are not obligated to deal in warranty with devices ruined by overwriting the system software by the user. Once you have made your smartphone useless by bad flashing and you are not able to recover its factory state, you are not allowed to request your seller to repair or replace your device for free of charge. Furthermore, UMi is not responisible for any damages or data loss caused by flashing a beta ROM provided in the beta secetion of this forum. The software contents provided in the beta section are made or approved by UMi but they do not make the official parts of the device that was sold by your retailer. If the hardware of your UMi Super smartphone gets damaged due to the bad working of an unofficial software, only reflashing the stock ROM will not reinstate the warranty status of your device.
YOU ARE WARNED!

Beside the obvious risks, theoretically you can anytime go back to a stock Marshmallow ROM by flashing it with SP Flash Tool, even if you've completely bricked your phone. That is also the process you have to do in case if you decide to leave the beta program.**
**In order to properly flash an Android 6.0 ROM over an Android 7.0 version, you have to choose the 'Format All + Download' option in SPFT. Since that process erase the nvram partion, so your IMEI numbers as well, after flashing you also have to re-flash your original IMEI numbers with the SN Writer Tool.

Hi Ben.

Where is the OTA update?... You say that you will push it in the second week of December.

Hi,

What I said as a representative of the company (not my own statement) was the following: ''...we will start pushing android 7.0 FOTA to SUPER and MAX users, which should be finished by the end of the second week of January.''  So that was in conditional mode, meaning a definite plan but not an unconditional promise. The engineers are working, of course. We already have a fully working Android 7.0 release for the Plus and an almost fully working version for the Super, so I hope, it's visible. To make something done in time first in the world (Android 7.x on an MTK phone) is hardly perfectly predictable.

i so to question about when the new beta it will be launched and no answer

I ask for the next beta release every day. If I everyday answer you ''I don't know'', does it help you?

dress this up how you like, but the standard of communication over this issue is deeply unsatisfactory, especially after the christmas eve debacle

Dá tempo ao tempo (give time to time itself).
I rather wait and get a good nougat rom than a half baked one.

Agreed, I suspect the real problem is with the developers who have a tendency to think they can communicate through mind melds.

They need to realise that good communication is good for UMI, which is good for their jobs, alternatively just give them a few turns on a barbeque until they see the error of their ways.

When will the next update come? So the camera works, and the LED flash, as well as the on screen buttons?

And the fingerprint sensor? It works or not? With the last two OTA update is going crazy

Yes, it works properly but there wasn't any issue in earlier versions either. You must have a specific issue, maybe bad flashing.

No camera? Are you guys at Umi on drugs or drunk?!?!

Sometimes good reading can prevent people saying things they don't mean.

It's a BETA rom. Umi is trying to make it better with the help of beta testers.

I'm really looking forward to this! I am too busy to flash my phone, will wait for an OTA Nougat upgrade - but this is still very exciting to see! I hope the beta goes smoothly! =D

Will the final versions support Google Daydream virtual reality? From what I understand there's a simple variable or flag to edit inside the system settings of rooted phones, but I am avoiding rooting my phone at all costs for app compatibility. It'd be great if Daydream VR (high-powered VR) were enabled as part of the main UMI Super Nougat ROM. It'd be a huge selling point for UMI phones - especially the Super. Being able to develop games and VR apps on such a cheap-but-strong device would be incredible. Good luck with the beta, looking forward to the finished version!!
