Are the two cameras real working at the same time?

So try to cover the right camera (monochrome one) in the photo mode and try to notice any difference because i didn't. I'm at the android 7.1.1 with the latest OTA.

What did you expect when you covered the right camera (monochrome one)?
And how do you explain the 3D images?
