A few people need to calm their s#it down, and stop acting like they paid for a $600 device from a c ...

Calm their s#it down?

When UMI Support tells you to flash the rom on every issue you have. When 20 users report an issue with rotating screen, Oh! Have you tried flashing the newest rom yet?
When some bugs since the start haven't been acknowledged and yet haven't been fixed. And while you have hope for them to be working on it, they are releasing device after device after device.
Not to forget almost exploding batteries due to expansion. Telling them it's their own fault for not charging the correct way.

Do you think they hire new developers for every new device they Launch? Neither do I. I'm pretty sure they are spreading development resources for those tasks, which is why it takes so long for bugs to be fixed.

I have no idea why you all have so many issue, my z is running fine, better than my Note Edge or HTC phones ever did, long batter, good photos and no real problems . I await 7 when its done, and I do believe its a mediatek issue as there are no x27 phones with 7 that you can actually buy, there is a few on sale but can't seem to find any review or delivery possible - because mediatek has a driver issue.  If you look online no one has a x27 rom online for 7 either, so must be something they want to fix.

I expect we will get a almost fine 7 as UMI are already testing on other models so the core will be good, you will all find faults for sure but they will be sorted given time.

No its for UMI to sort there dev work on the roms, slow down the new phones a bit and get this one rocking!

Edited by Medard22 at 2017-4-12 19:30 \n\n@ Baki  MediaTek as a SoC manufacturer is responsible for the core development. We know MediaTek has a bad reputation when it comes to software development and support. I know the were violating GPL and were not releasing the kernel sources for free which slowed down development of alternative and custom ROMS. If the MediaTek is not able to provide support for it´s SoC, manufacturer can do nothing about it. It sucks, but there is really nothing we can do.
@tretinaj You were promised early upgrade to Nougat. Umi Z was released in February, with upgrade to Nougat being promised at the end of April. I think three months should be considered as early update, not to mention the fact that the development is stalled by MediaTek. Some manufacturers have been promising Nougat for some devices for 6 months or even more. Complaining won´t speed up the development process.
@Darkshade18 Flashing the whole ROM from the scratch is the common issue solving process in Android phones. There is a lot of problems and fleeting bugs that may occur during the OTA process. So the first advice is logically factory reset and then flashing the whole ROM image.
The bugs are acknowledged and the mods are relaying the message to developers. Battery issues are known, but so far there is no way to tell if it is caused by a bad batch of batteries, software bug that could cause overcharging of the battery or if it is a common problem with all devices. That might take time to investigate.

I am very sorry, but I don´t agree with you. Umi Z don´t work properly, unfortunately. I have thought, that I buy finished product, no semi-finished.  Post time 2017-4-13 02:15

UMIDIGI was proud to announce and heavily advertised the very first phone on the market with Helio X27 SoC.
It was not me who was pushing them to make their decisions.
This is not UMIDIGIs first phone with MTK SoC so they should know to whom they are dealing with.
Actually, and I have said that already many times here, I don't care whether I will receive Nougat upgrade or not in a recent time.
But I do care for Android 6 related issues. It is mid of April 2017 and we are still discussing bugs related to Android 6.
This is simply unacceptable.
I could literally write a dozens of serious complaints but I won't. I am becoming tired.
I have used a bunch of smartphones so far and I haven't participated in any single forum so far because I was a happy user.
Look at me now. I have become a "platinum" member.

It´s always a lottery when you buy a chinese brand, especially with MediaTek SoC. Some brands are better some are worse. Specs are wonderful, but the software is not always polished and optimized. They compete with low prices.  You could say that Xiaomi has a superior products and in many aspects you would be right, but Xiaomi is a big company and it benefits from it´s community that helps reporting and fixing bugs in MIUI. If it is such a big issue I recommend buying something based on Snapdragon SoC - it has usually much better support.

UMIDIGI obviously does not take the benefits from it´s community.

Mediatek cant be all bad since several major players are making new phones with their chips in them, then again this might be why UMI is sidelined as mediatek focus on the big players.

But then again again, what fixes and development mediatek make for one of their chips to another brand should also more or less filter over into UMI phones.

Meanwhile i am happy i am not a hardcore phone user, so i don't really know what to expect from the Z, so far it is working fine for me.

It is a little discouraging to me to see so often flashing rom to be a solution, i have never tried this, and it is not my understanding it is needed for other phones, unless you are the kind of user that mod your phone anyway.
I really don't want to go that route if i can help, it was one of the reasons i went with UMI as they provide a BS free phone, so no rooting and so on should be needed.
I was hoping regular OTA updating would fix and add things just like in windows, and windows i have not had to reinstall since i stopped messing around in regedit many years ago.

Okay not long ago my C: SSD died, so there i did have to reinstall windows as that drive is not something i backup, only my other drives get that treatment.

If your phone was advertised with Android 6.0 installed out of the box and you have received your device with Android 6.0 installed on it, then you are not cheated. Even the greatest brands often postpone such updates if something happens.
