Just updated my Umi Iron V1.6 ROM with ROOTJOY ...Now it's time to test it

Ok, so I've tested a bit 1.6 ver:
- hardware buttons added and working. Hope that we get more configuration options in next update
- audio bugs - well seems that there is an improvement but there are glitches to be fixed
- tranfering data over usb cable still sucks - very slow speeds no matter which port I use (USB 3.0 or USB 2.0)
- still can not mount as USB stick
- camera api2 still not implemented - manual camera doesn't work

Hope that UMI devs will solve all of above.
Anybody tested if audio and data transfer problems exist in flyme os??

Hi Rhen,

The latest I've had from UMI is that it should be sent via OTA in the next week or 2 with download for flashtool upgrade at the same time. Official change log:

1. activate vibration when turned off
2. google services updated
3. activate the hardware navigation keys

GO to Accessiblity , press on "Virtual Keypad", select "Entity keypad" and reboot your phone.

So I got my UMI Iron yesterday and i have to say, i quite like it. updated to 1.6 via pc app. easy.

buuuuutttt:

every time i press the volume up or down button, the system UI stops working and needs to restart. wtf??! that is really, really annoying.

i´ve bought a second iron for my girlfriend. this smartphone does exactly the same...

i flashed flyme OS (i know meizu for quite a long time now) and have absolutely no problems: volume working, hardwarebuttons working, camera working, etc.

how can it be, that UMI cannot provide a bug-free version of its own UI, but a OS, that was never meant to run on the iron does a FAR BETTER job?! thats ridiculous...!

my guess: umi has big problems regarding this strange audio-chip, the even stranger equalizer software and the super, super strange implementation of both of them in android 5.1. they should have sticked with an ordinary audio chip.

as long as these gaping audiobugs arent solved, i will stick to flyme. it´s a little bit slower, but it does work...
PS: volume level in phone calls is quite low... the speaker on the other side is (even when back mounted) quite ok.

Found another bug, this time in official recovery. Backups don't work for me. Always get error:
backing up boot image...
backing up recovery image...
backing up /system image...
W:failed to mount
/dev/block/platform/mtk-msdc.0/by-name/system (File exists)

Too bad, cause RootJoy recovery seems to be enough for most of the times. No need to install TWRP.
