New info on 07th April
Sorry but bad news here. The UMi dev. team is waiting for a driver patch from MediaTek (no detailed info about that) and that's unexpectedly postponed until the end of this month. Without that patch a bootable ROM cannot be created.
We are sorry for your inconvenience and ask you to be a bit more patient. The Android 7.0 upgrade will be released for UMI Z, that's sure.

Sorry but not. Check the first post again, please.

UMI should really continue the work on Android 6 according to the feedback we have already provided on this forum.
You have now a plenty time to make it better.
I do not expect much of the first UMI Z Nougat releases either.
Historia mater studiorum est.

@tretinaj The problem is not with UMI but rather with MediaTek. The delays in Android 7 development was caused mostly by MediaTek and it´s new X27 SoC. First the devs for Umi were waiting for kernel source for Android 7 and now they wait for a critical driver patch. That patch has to be merged and tested before the development is resumed.

Anyway it would be nice if they could provide is with another bugfix release of Marshmallow in the meantime.

Comments

With all due respect but this is not the excuse neither for UMIDIGI nor to anyone else be it MediaTek, the supplier of the Mediatek or supplier of that supplier. I don't have to know all that stuff.  Post time 2017-4-11 18:44

A few people need to calm their s#it down, and stop acting like they paid for a $600 device from a company with unlimited resources like samsung and/or apple. Sure, the device has bugs and support could be better, but get a grip of perspective.

I strongly dissagree with your point of view.
Even if I have paid 100 USD for the phone it should have the quality and functionality as it has been advertised.
Should I say it should work flawlesly.

Yes, I understand it, but UMI Z have too many problems and we must to confess oneself, that there is no solution in sight. UMIDIGI promise OTA update to Android 7.0 on the official site of UMI Z. I have bought this phone with perspective of early update to Android 7. I feel cheated by UMIDIGI. I have given my money UMIDIGI and I am not interested about relation betwen UMIDIGI and MediaTek.
