You tried to disconnect the battery? I'm sure it will help you.

Did you try change from firmware upgrade option on SPFT to format + download.
Please do this with Android 6.0 ROM to see what is happening.
You could have hardware issue (screen).

I just tried with 20161228 (Nougat) in firmware upgrade, download only and  format all + download, one after the other and nothing. Then I tried 20161019 (Marshmallow) as  firmware upgrade, download only and  format all + download, still nothing, everything working except for the blackscreen. I think I'll have to send it back to repair... spend 200$ on a new phone to have to send it back after a week.

I don't even want the phone now but the store wont give me a refund, only a "free" repair

If they give you any refund (partial) then you could buy new screen and replace your self.
You can get screen for around $35 to $45

You ca ...

No, they just say they'll pay for a repair (till 25$) or repair it themselves. I don't want a new phone repaired. And I'm not even sure if the problem is hardware or software. Whatever it is, this is the last time I'll buy a "Chinese" phone. This is too much trouble and I feel like I just lost my money because obviously this phone (even if repaired) wont last even a year.

Total disregard for us consumers. I'm sure the problem is software and not hardware. I already tried everything that was said here in this forum. I managed to get it back up and running, but right after turning off or restarting the phone, puff, black screen back, we could join in and make a viral video showing the disrespect that the UMI has with its consumers. Let's go back to SAMSUNG, APPLE, LG, etc., respect brands. Only then will they fix this bug.

It is regrettable, the state that we all meet. I used xiaomi for 4 years and never went through it. The first Umi cell phone I bought, was soon happening. You know what that means? I NEVER BUY UMI. NEVER ! How does a reputed brand upgrade their handsets and give a bug of that type? I'm thinking of sending mine to China and asking for a refund. Even so it will be taxed, and the freight from brazil to china is 105 reais, very high! I love you never more...
