I received my phone today and it has the same problem with the Gyroscope in VR.

Raideon,
I am sorry for you.
But it actually it makes me feel somehow better.
I think there will be an easy fix in terms of firmware update. They probably inverted some kind of parameter.
If not, they will have to face a huge recall.

It's good to know that I'm not the only one with the inverted Gyro. There is a possibility that every Umi Z encounter the same problem. Hope this will be fixed with an Software-Update.

You guys have to remember that this is the first ever made OS for the Helio X-27 chipset. A lot will change on this devise when it get the Nougat update. Be patient brothers. I can understand that a inverted Gyro is irritating, it will be fixed in a software update hopefully. Then again i've been amazed how some issues on my Umi Super never been resolved. Hence my hesitation in buying yet another Umi product. That and the fact that Umi don't share the kernel tree so Devs can make amazing kernels to optimize the good hardware inside their newest devices.

The Helio X23/X27 is not that different from X20/25. A more refined 20nm process that allows to rise the clock-rate by some MHz. New is the ISP, which offer support for dual cameras and a bit better image quality, also noticeable on the Umi Z. The rest is just marketing.

It's a driver issue, that will be fixed in a later update. Please be patient until.
The Nougat development is not in progress yet, since MediaTek has not been released the Helio X27 Nougat SDK. More detailed news will come later.

Ok,

I am pleased to see I have support from other buyers.
This just makes me wonder what kind of quality control policies they do have inside Umi?
If it is a problem present in all / most devices, didn't they test every sensor before sending dozens of thousands of devices to production?
After production, didn't they have a procedure to recheck the product and make a new firmware update in case of failures?
Or they don't even check their products whatsoever?
I imagine the last hypothesis seem to be the most close to reality, which is frightening.
Please Umi, adopt more serious quality control policies before selling your products.
You will never become the new Xioami if you don't change.

Anyway, thanks for you support and honesty admiting the mistakes made.

Regards,

Ok,

Hi
About devices control.
Samsung and Apple didn't control all devices in all aspects too to avoid customer dissatisfaction in latest devices with exploding/ batteries or braking screens in pockets. Please don't forget that umi budget is not the same as Samsung or Apple.
The next thing is that umi Z is the first device in market with X27 chip.

I understand that UMI has smaller budget than big companies, but you are not that small, and I am not comparing your phones with Apple's or Samsung's, but with Xiaomi, your chinese competitor which sell phones for the same prices as you do.Anyway, one single person, could be enough to test every single sensor on the phone. This is not the kind of problem that takes a lot of investment or time to control.
While testing battery quality and glass resistance on the long run can be much more complicated than just verifying if the firmware send the good settings to each sensor / component. It's like comparing apples to oranges.
Anyway, I am trusting you to solve this problem, since I bought an Umi phone for my girlfriend and she never had a problem with it. Also you provide much better support on forums than other competitors like Elephone.
By the way, being the first company to launch a x27 CPU phone is a nice achievement. But making your clients satisfied, and make them trust your brand is a much bigger one, believe me.
All that said, I hope you will keep on doing good work. But criticism is sometimes necessary to help you out.

Hi MarcinP,

I have tried it with dozens of VR apps, or apps that use Gyroscope, just to be sure.  ...

No, you are not alone
Mine got 90° inverted gyro too...
