So should working correctly.
Did you follow steps as full format + download only preloader + rest of partitions.

Realistically if fingerprint is mechanically damaged (hardware fault) shouldn't be existing in settings but maybe you opened phone and couldn't connect correctly cause not working.

So maybe try latest official ROM and if everything works correctly then flash with latest unofficial ROM with FIRMWARE UPGRADE option in SPFT

If you didn't open phone or didn't drop etc hardware shouldn't fail suddenly.
You need contact to seller or open phone but this will void warranty.
