Hi,

Would like to know, is the current Umi Iron rom version 1.8 is the last update that we get? If yes, then I think it's abit unfair to us, coz this phone was less than 1 year. Can our moderator to help us confirm about this, or is there any way we can get contact with Umi rep to ask about this?

I'm still waiting an answer after I wrote to UMI Customer Service about UMI IRON software update.
I also show him this Web Page http://www.umidigi.com/?page-UMIIRON_Jarvis.html where they put CM11 Logo on the bottom of the page...this is a misleading advertising and a fraud for consumers!

how true it is what this gentleman says.
I do not care if  not upgrade to android 6,  if, umi, corrects problems hardware of this phone.
I would recommend that, the roms featuring, eliminate of ROOTJOY .
these ROM, contain many bugs and offers nothing really user

I am sorry to say this (especially that I really like my UMI Iron as a device) but choosing my new phone I turn to Acer or some other REALLY BIG company, that CAN handle some REAL support of their products.

It's pretty clear that at the release of new devices, the previous ones hardly get updates. Unfortunately is a common policy of many companies.

Unfortunately, spare parts and updates are still not available.Umi  forgotten about this model.

I requested the info from UMI about whether UMI Iron will receive further updates or not. I'm waiting for the answer. Some spare parts for Iron are available on aliexpress

According to the information that I received from UMI today, the development of a new update for UMI Iron is not in progress and not planned. I can neither confirm nor confute  that this is a final state however, you surely can't expect an update in the near future.

I'm sorry to say that, but what a stupid idea to think that, a smartphone becomes useless if it doesn't get new updates anymore! If your phone is defective, then you should have requested a replacement or a full refund from your reseller. However, if you've been using it for 9 months already, you can't say that, that's just a wasted money. If you even think your phone is defective, then your 12-month warranty is still valid and you're able to take the appropriate action. Please, don't try to create non-existent laws.

For example, I had a samsung galaxy for three years, and got only one update. Paid $ 500 in 2012. When you proceed to the purchase of a device, I think the interest both to the technical and functional features to your needs. The fact that a company does not proceed expeditiously in updating their smartphones does not necessarily means that the media is suddenly be thrown if the company is to be made even the subject of a class action. It seems to me you're overdoing.
To properly install some apps, refer to several discussions about community that explain so clearly and comprehensively as one must operate.

Thanks for your reply. Nope, as I mention earlier, I juz wan to know if the project to update this phone have stopped or not. As of now, my Iron was working ok, just have some issue with the performance of the camera, low USB transfer speed, clicking sound when using headset and some apps compatibilites issue. Would hope future update can solve those issue, and maybe have the new function of the Marshmallow.

Anyway, thanks for helping me to clarify, bencebacsi, I really appreciate your help.

It's okay to not getting platform updates like marshmallow, but your galaxy phone probably has a bug free final ROM.
In this case we don't have this on Iron. I don't think it is too much demand to get a "bug free" ROM as the final ROM.

Anyway, I get it that there will be no more ROM for the Iron. I can live with it. Probably Umi is too small to properly support their phones.
I'm not angry at Umi, I'm just a little disappointed. This was my first "Chinese" phone and I've learned the lesson that there is a reason why these "Chinese" phones cheaper.
