well I'm intressed in rooting my super (mainly because of titanium backup app ) but I also want to keep ota update.
All that I read about this was that I have to manually flash each update.

But...
I found this :
http://www.howtogeek.com/192402/ ... and-how-to-keep-it/
It seems that using flashfire app, it's possible to update and keep the root (and the twrp which seems to be the only way to root).

I think I will try it with a older phone (HTC desire 816) but may not work because to root this one , I had to install trwp +  unlock the bootloader....

What do you thonl of it ?
Regards

I flashed my phone to V3.02_20160923 and installed TWRP with SP Flash Tool, rooted it and the phone received the 20161017 uptade over the air. After the update root was lost but the TWRP was still there so re-rooting was no problem.

Hi, you´re installed last update 20161017 with TWRP? Someone wrote here, that this is not working - boot finished with bootloop.
Thanks for reply.

No. I installed with Settings -> About Phone -> Wireless Update.

YOU NEED TO HAVE A CUSTOM RECOVERY INSTALLED

http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/rom-resurrectionremix-umi-super-t3474148

there you go. root access can be aquired through developer options in the settings menu (pre enabled)

if u need gapps (Google Apps [like playstore, gmail etc]), this is for you (download an arm64 version!! aroma didn't work for me on this twrp from jemini)
http://opengapps.org/
(i prefer nano (basics), can download the rest through playstore if needed)

  • Download
  • Put on SD card
  • Boot to Recovery
  • Flash
  • Wipe Cache & Dalvik
  • Reboot
  • Reboot into recovery again
  • Flash gapps if needed
  • Wipe Cache & Dalvik
  • Reboot
  • enjoy

first i flashed both in a queue but it caused troubles on my device, so i suggest the way described above

my experiences so far (remember, this is a beta version)

pros:

  • extra button only for swithcing sound toggle (long press)
  • faster camera focus
  • faster fingerprint scanner
  • stable bluetooth
  • stable wifi
  • for me better 4g connection
  • pre root
  • no idle drain on battery
  • nice customization

cons:

  • a few system freezes, like 4 in total now (hold vol+ and power to reboot)
no app on left hardware button but that's no problem for me, since i use it for sound toggle only
  • sometimes mini stutters, but it's in an ignorable state

(i didnt make neither the rom nor the recovery, just reposting)
