OTA Update to Unofficial Basic ROM - should I stop it??

Hi,

admins.. I have the unofficial basic rom installed, but overnight I got a pop up message that an OTA update was ready and would be installed on restart. I have not restarted and I have disabled automatic updates in developer options. Should I allow this update or stop it? If so, how do I stop it?

The update attempted to install itself and failed. I have disabled the system update app. Users who load the unofficial basic rom please note.. disable the updater.

The attempted and failed update reset my notifications settings.. so far I have not found any other damage, but it could have been much worse. I don't think the phone should have tried to update the unofficial ROM. Admin, is this true or not??

The attempted update has definitely affected my phone. It is running slower - I get stuttering in games that I didn't before. FB won't load (I know that's an FB issue but it is worse now, it was only failing about 1/10 times before, now it takes ~5 attempts to start FB.. it crashes every time it goes into background).

I disabled system update app.. but it has somehow re-enabled itself and has downloaded another update which it will install if I restart. I am afraid this update will ruin my phone that was working perfectly. (took me two months to get it working but hey.. its a cheap phone right?).

How do I stop the updates!!!??????? I do not need updates. I am using the unofficial basic rom. It should not be updating!

Go to settings - about phone - wireless update - three dots - deactivate auto updates etc.
Unfortunately I can recommend factory reset or again flash with SPFT latest Basic ROM.

There is no wireless udate option. Under system update there are no dots. I did the other things. i assume then, that every time there is an update, my phone could be bricked??
