After less then 2 months battery of my Umi Z is expanded.
The screen now have 2 lines of dirty|steamy , and there is dust in the camera.
Answer from GearBest ( UMIDIGI OFFICIAL SELLER) is that battery expansion is due to a incorrect use of the phone.
This is crazy!!!!!!
What kind of support do we have as UMIDIGI customers?

Hello dear, sorry to let you down . The fact is that we do not offer warranty directly to end-users but to our licensed shops, since we're selling our device through shops but not directly to users. In thi

Here is the process procedure: End users report/ claim warranty to shop - > shop report claim to UMI - UMI factory fix device/ give brand new replacement to shop -> shop send back to end users. more detail about how to claim warranty please reffer to here: http://www.umidigi.com/page-newguide.html

Dear all users,
We apologize for your experience with UMI Z.
After a deep investigated after we received one of the defected device sent back from the user,
According to the test report from the affected device, there's a few factor that could lead to this expansion:
1. Using none standard fast charger provided by the company, the over high electric current break the battery
2. Unstable electric current from the plug via the building could lead it to over high electric current and break the battery

UPDATE:The latest report, we found out There's about 20pcs Z's battery that is damaged during disassembly test in the factory.
This is factory default, not related to sellers like Gearbest.

Therefore, we have to provide a set of solution to sellers like Gearbest and others.
If you have battery expend problem, please contact the seller where you purchased the device to apply for warranty.
All extra cost is covered by UMIDIGI.

We apologized for any inconvenient!
Thank you for your support!

Dear Users,

UMIDIGI will manage to replace all defective batteries or to repair each handset with defective battery as per your choice. The details will be published later today in a new thread. This solution is going to be managed directly by the factory, not through the retailers.

So the moral of the story is that bloating of the battery is caused by user error... In so much as if you try and charge this phone like any other phone and make the mistake of assuming you can leave it plugged in, or heaven forbid, use it whilst charging, well your going to have a bad time.

And more the fool you, for having taken a punt on a relatively unknown brand who let you buy their wares through resellers with scant interest in honouring anything even resembling a warranty(whether you want to draw a conclusion from the fact that it's much more difficult to get junk in to China, than things out, well I'll leave that to you). And indeed, as you made the foolish choice to buy from such resellers, be happy about the fact that you should pay to send your poorly made/engineered device back from whence it came...

In the end, if it seems to good to be true, it probably is.

But this leads me on to my next point, the manner of some of the moderators on this forum is at times troubling. First, it would be fair to assume that the UMI Z/Pro attracted both people looking for value and potentially some 'tech savvy' types. Second, it would be fair to assume not all those people speak English fluently.

So a touch of humility would perhaps be in order considering that even if these phones are 'cheap', they still represent an investment (and a leap of faith). First off, treating paying customers as if they are mentally deficient, or by trying to hide behind petty comparable situations is low, and unbefitting of a brand trying to establish itself.

Secondly, a degree of patience towards the international nature of your audience and their language difficulties would be perhaps a good thing. True many of the non-English comments come across as aggressive (and for every 1 positive comment, you get at least 10 negatives), but this is due to a frustration rising from a device manufactured by the company that in some capacity you are representing. A device that could reasonably be described as having to date 'over promised, under delivered'.

Anyway, I don't hate my Umi Z, and I bear no one at Umidigi any ill will. However, so far my Umi Z has not lived up to the lofty expectations that Umidigi's MC department created.

I am, as many others here, concerned about the subject of battery swell... Mainly because I have an interest in self preservation.. But also because fire can, in many cases, be uncool (burning even non skate area of my body/apartment/car/pets is not on my to do list). My phone has not swollen to the point of concern, but as the bezel of my phone now seems to have developed a gap... I need to watch this further and treat this phone as if it is a complicated and temperamental black magic machine.

A little reassurance would be nice, but instead we get treated to the low rent typical disgruntled IT worker special of 'have you tried turning it off and on again' (or hard reset/full wipe/upload ROM business).

Would I recommend this experience to anyone...

Meh.

Edited by Monteral at 2017-5-22 15:51 \n\nHey guys do you know how to fix Maximum power on the phon ...

Battery was available but probably is out the stock and we can't do nothing about.
Please wait week or two and hopefully will be available again. I know that you can buy new model of battery 4,4V 3800 mAh but then you need change software.
About third party apps reading 1000 mAh this is normal as they not supporting correctly Chinese phones.
If you connect charger adapter between charger and USB wire you can read charging voltage, current flow and battery capacity (calculated from charging details) and this will give you close to correct reading (under quick charging give you around 25% less reading but under 5V and 1A will give you fully correct capacity)
Also if you know how calculate battery capacity from charging you can type to call dialer *#*#3646633#*#* - you will be transferred to engineering mode - hardware testing - power - and you can read charging voltage and current flow. Simply charging current * charging time and you have reading, of course without using phone.

Hey there,
We found out the problem that leads to the white line on the Z is because of the oleoph ...

Just to share my experience in this context.White strip on my phone covers one third of the screen, on the left side from top to bottom.
I am cleaning the screen once per day, gently and in appropriate way with a soft microfiber cloth and non agressive cleaning liquid.
It has not been increased yet so far.

Edited by Sad at 2017-3-28 23:21 \n\nI understood that charging the phone, and using it at the same time was not a good idea, the battery heats very hard! (I thus pass from 34 ° C to 25 ° C)
Now I load my UMI Z and I put it on a cold slate -_-
I also have a line like you, but the battery did not inflate

There was a video explaining how to repair the swollen battery, but you have to disassemble the phone ... remove the battery gently ... and file the edge of the battery Oo

When you pick up a phone in your country, that phone has a problem, you row it and there is no problem
But when the purchased phone comes from far away, it's more complicated, and it's not normal.

The logic would like you to return the phone at your expense (unfortunately), it is sometimes necessary to insist on the seller, when a battery swells it is generally sign of default, and I do not see how one can "misuse" the charging Of his phone ...

Sorry for my English, I'm French

Don't worry, my english is not better ( i'm italian).
I understand that i have not the same support that i can have buying a Samsung or Iphone, or more general a phone in my country.
But simply telling me that is my fault and they cannot do anything is horrible. Maybe they can suggest to sell cell to them, and i will avoid this because is too much expensive.
But they need to give me a better answer.

Sending a puffed battery is highly dangerous, you could cause a plane to catch fire and crash.

I think UMI should just send a new battery to people with this problem, then they can replace it them self or get a repair shop to do it in they have little DIY skills.

Edited by gamerom at 2017-3-29 04:07 \n\nThe problem of the screen and the battery are serious. For the moment, I have only the issue of the screen.

A friend of mine has bought a Xiaomi Redmi 4. It is at least 30% cheaper than UMI Z, and the phone is much better than ours: The screen, the body of the phone, the battery...

For the line on the screen a screen protector tempered glass regulates the problem
On the other hand do not do like me, it takes 2.5D because the edges are curved
