IRON FLIPCOVER will NEVER work!!

I had a conversation with the Umiofficial on Facebook.

Me:The cover for umi Iron is Not working! Even when v1.5 Software is installed.
The contact Circle on the left inside of the cover is placed wrong! It dont touch the iron on the right Place, even the iron is placed right on the cover. I updated to 1.6 rom. But the Cover still not work. And the sound quality is not better, i believe it is even more bad... And freezing is still there. The only good thing is the new Navigation keys on the phone.
I dont understand why such a Smartphone is for sell, when so much dont work correctly... I am getting frustrated



Umiofficial:About the issues your facing. We are still working on fixing those issues. 1.6 is not the latest update coming. The sound bug did get improved with the 1. 6 release. I'm using it now and its not has much as the previous. The cover issue your talking about can't be fixed with an update since it's a issue with the cover itself (the magnet is placed wrong) we are talking to the factory about this. So please just be patient as we are trying to fix all issues one at the time.

You see, Umi are selling a "original flipcover", that is not working, because it is manufactured FALSE!

I thought the community has the right to knoe that.

I got my sensor to work, although I had to add a stronger magnet to the cover. It works now. I think the problem is umi haven't put a strong enough magnet in the cover

I can't post a video tutorial because I don't have a proper camera. But will explain what I did.

You need a strong round magnet about 0.8cm wide. Anything similar would work.

First test the magnet with the phone, touch it on the screen next to the volume buttons and remove it, the screen should light up, now put the magnet back and the screen should turn off. All I did was attach the magnet to the existing one already in the cover. I slightly cut the case above the original magnet and slotted my own magnet in. And it works perfect now!

I think this is not only a "small fault". It is a BIG FAULT, to sell Covers like this. It means UMI had never checked if one of thr covers really work. - - -  But if they checked it, and knew it, then UMI has pranked the customers, us.

This flip cover "sensor" thing is a big fault. However why don't they just use the proximity sensor to lock/open the phone instead the "flip cover sensor" or whatever?
It can be done in software...

Of course you can install an app for "proximity cover gesture". I have tried it. But its not good as a working cover, because its more slow and sometimes you get wizh a finger over the proximity sensor, then the sreen turns off.  Or when you Pull down the statusbar from the top of display.
Slowly i am getting mad.

Dear all, I bought my cover through AMAZON (Europe) and I finally got it yesterday. It does NOT work indeed.
Let's see  what the seller will say as I wrote a complaint today.

What me surprises is, that no one of the UMI officials comment to this thread... Because UMI pranked us and they know it?
Seems like they dont give a f*** about the customers.

Woow, kavil could you post some kind of tutorial for everyone... If Umi doesn't solve the problem we could at least try to fix it ourselfs.

Hello all,
They answered me (amazon seller). They will send a new cover for free. But this does not solve the issue, because I think the cover will come with the same issue.
Please, if you have any solution to the magnet problem, plese post a tutorial. That would be great!
And yes, I think Umi should give us an answer...
