Unfortunately, Settings has stopped

When I try to reinitiate the fingerprint feature (which was working until a few days ago .... I went abroad and it stopped working in that country) I go to Settings/Fingerprint, then enter my pin number twice...only to get the following message:

"Unfortunately, Settings has stopped"

Can anyone help me please?
I have tried to flash the rom, using the rootjoy app, but there are no updates available.

Rest to factory defaults has fixed the problem, but the finger printing doesnt work ending in a "SPI communications error"

Really regret buying this phone.
