Before update that can solve by pressing lock and unlock button to unfreeze touch screen.
after update to 20190708-0919 you can try below to solve the problem :

1. press power button to lock the screen and eject the SIM card slot and press power button ON.
2. if everything OK no freeze then slot back the SIM card will do.

I tried this. Seemed better when I removed the sim, only froze a couple times. But when I put it back in it is freezing up quite regularly again.
