"Ceramic is a distinctive, beautiful, premium yet resistant material."
Yes, that's right.

A major disadvantage, however, is the brittle fracture behavior of ceramics (low fracture toughness).
Metallic materials, on the other hand, are ductile and therefore less likely to break.
They forgive lighter design tolerances by reducing local stress peaks through elastic and plastic deformation.

Many of today's smartphones have a front and back made of glass and are therefore more sensitive to falls.
How is that with the Z2 Pro Ceramic Edition?

The specifications and design of the Z2 Pro are incredibly good.
In spite of everything, I am considering whether ceramic is really a good choice,
or whether I should opt better for Carbon Fiber or Twilight.

Got my ceramic version of the Z2 pro a few days ago.

Comparing with my s2 pro's metal body, which is in one piece for the edge and back, the ceramic version has two pieces.  One for the back and one for the edge with the rest being the screen.  I am unsure if the edge, which should be the body frame itself holding the components together, is ceramic or just metal in matching color.

A Youtube has demonstrated if a ceramic body phone dropped from mid height of a person the edge could be damaged by chipping a piece out of the corner.  I suppose if one drops a ceramic phone it is less damage-resistant than one with a metal body which could still be dented instead of having a small part knocked off.

The ceramic back is incredibly smooth and could slide easily if resting on a mild slope.  In usage the fingerprint does not leave a mark so it does give the owner a special feeling about it.  The claimed better signal reception could be marginal as there is no way an ordinary user can verify it but technically ceramic should be less resistant to phone signal than metal.

Since the ceramic version is sold with the wireless charger while other versions are not so the price differential is not larger.

I would recommend the ceramic edition to users who seldom drop their phone.  The z2 pro is highly specified with modern features and the finish product looks as good as those from any of the big names.  With the ceramic body externally it is truly a premium product.

What UMI needs to do is to sort out the teething problems with its more-bug-than-average Android 8 system  in the new production.

Yesterday a finally received my ceramic Umidigi Z2 Pro, whit a I was reading, I had some fear.
But folowing this forum I did not but in a pin or pattern, I use the Password setting.
And I must say it's a very satisfying phone, nice looking and fast.
Fingerprint and face unlock both work very well(sure they have to fix the problems).
GPS working just fine, had a trip this morning trough woods and city center, no problems.
Can't say much about battery life yet and I'm going to root it some day(just get adaway working again).
Amazing that the size from this 6,2" phone is same as my Elephone P9000 and smaller than my Sony Xperia Z5 pro.
Easy phone to carry around with.
And I'm a great fan for clean android with no bloadware (Sony Phone and Samsung Tablet is full with it).
Sincerely hope they fix the last bit and keep it updating for a reasonable time.
Regards.

I have the ceramic edition.  I had to upgrade the firmware to 0914 OTA - couldn't get the SPFT to see my phone when switched off.
I can now log in, however, I've come across other problems.
1. Recharging wirelessly with the provided Qi charger overheats the phone.  It gets so hot that you can't hold the phone.  The phone complains and says "Remove the battery".  Charging by plugging in the cable direct to the phone has no issues.
2. I work in a warehouse where mobile signal diminishes and the phone switches to 3G.  It gets stuck in this mode but there is no longer a data connection.  I've switched the mobile data off and on but this doesn't fix it.  The only way to get mobile internet back is to restart the phone.
3. NFC Service appears on the lock screen and in the notification area permanently.  There is no way to switch this pointless message off.

This great phone seems to still be a work in progress.  It's a pity that we still have to wait for fixes.  I wonder if wireless charging can even be fixed?

The wireless charger does get hot and can stop the charging.  Initially I needed to remove the case to get it charged but last night I managed to get a full charge out of it without removing the case.  The heat is not excessive in mine as I had a hotter Apollo Lite before.  I wonder if it is comparable to other wireless chargers.  It does fast charging too and that is at much higher voltages than the standard 5VDC so it has to be hot but not to a level that the phone complains.

The wifi is not as stable and steady as other phones.

I have the unwanted NFC notification message too.
