Can we get an official reply on this? By not publishing kernel sources, UMI is in direct violation of the GPL License, and can therefore be sued by the FOSS.
It would be better for everyone (users, UMI, legality) if the kernel sources were published, and it is reeeally cheap to publish them!

Well, "the possibilities of creating custom ROMs might be better" only applies to UMI itself. If no kernel sources are released, we are stuck with whatever UMI decides to publish. If kernel sources are published, more ROMs will appear. And this also increase sales, I don't know why some companies don't understand this yet.

This is a snapdragon, then kernel's sources are on github
The specific sources for the eMax Mini will certainly be open since this is UMI!

For the camera, I really don't now.

Official snapdragon sources located at codeaurora: https://www.codeaurora.org/cgit/ ... h=LA.BR.1.2.6_rb1.1
But they don't include some phone-specific features (sensor drivers, for example).

I will not be bad language but as you know UMI has no sources and closely with TLC

I to tell you that the first UMI EMAX and pale copy of TLC M2M
The UMI EMAX mini is also a copy of TLC 3 S M3G

You never have the branch of the complete device for compilation

I am very tempted to buy this device but I do not trust that UMI has only using the work of others

I do not doubt the good value for actualy price but if you think you can develop just recommend finding of a more serious production and leave aside UMI

Since these phones are made by the same manufacturer, that's better to call them variants and not copies. eMAX mini is cheaper but looks better (that's subjective) and the international support is still better than that provided by TCL. Since the eMAX mini is based on a Qualcom SoC, the possibilities of creating custom ROMs might be better.
