Umi Z Android 7.1.1 problem, Nothing works well!

Good day,
I have problem with my Umi Z after update to Android 7.
With Android 6 everything work OK.
I have this problems in Android 7 (in Android 6 it work):
- System do not read sd cards (I try 3 cards)
- System about 3/5 times go to the recovery after press only power button not to the system
- Original recovery say NO COMMAND
- The phone is often jammed and restart
- I have problem with wake up the screen - every time
- The phone itself turns off the screen
- Sometimes I do not click to anything and do not turn off screen
- When I turn off wifi, mobile data do not work or I must restart phone with wifi off and work
- I have Do Not disturb mode, when I call
- It is not possible to do anything with this update for me :/

I do this:
1) I use official OTA update with update in settings and it did not work right (same problems).
after this go back with SPFT and with Android 6 work everything OK
2) I use official OTA update from ZIP and same problems
back to Android 6
3) I use SPFT for firmware upgrade to Android 7 with official recovery and same problems
back to Android 6
4) I use SPFT for Android 7 with TWRP and same problems
back to Android 6 and everything work OK

I bought this device, because I want phone with Android 7, I wait so long and this not work for me!

This phone may be a faulty piece. Can I put on claim this device? I have a one-year phone guarantee in Germany.

Hi there, that truly is a weird issue though some points in your list were reported by some users in the forums, mainly these two

Now you say that using the latest Marshmallow ROM everything works fine right? Since you went back and forth from Marshmallow to Nougat check if your IMEI numbers are intact. Also I would suggest starting with latest Masrhmallow ROM flashed by SPFT, test if everything works, then doing factory reset. After that I would manually copy the OTA package to internal memory and perform update to Android 7. After that I would perform factory reset again just to be sure, then plug-in the SD card and let the phone format it.

I must say I am not that much familiar with the SPFT tool and there is a chance you could break something during the flashing process so leave some feedback and hopefully bencebacsi could help you with that as he wrote most SPFT tutorials on these forums. Good luck.

Agree with you that some things just went wonky after nougat which I have had for 2 weeks now. Here's my list of problems:

Connectivity - mobile network and data connection are patchy, keeps dropping and reconnecting; WiFi became patchy as well; Bluetooth will disappear at times after connection.

Sound- my alarm and calls did not sound some times so I need to reboot, then all came back again.

Apps - lots of frequent hanging in fb and WhatsApp. Need to close app and reopen.

Battery life- need to charge 3 times a day. Just waiting for the bloated battery syndrome which I am sure will happen soon.

Screen - I have the dreaded ugly white lines and patch when screen is off. Not too particular about this but it looks like my screen is growing fungus.

Camera - doesn't focus well and despite the many bytes, not good photos.

Screen tactile - not good, sometimes still have the off position.

Fingerprint sensor - hahaha I stopped using it, bad sensor.

I appreciate umidigi's support but you have done a lousy job with this phone. Only thing that has not failed me is the gps so at least that works!

You are perhaps a bit better than letv 1 pro which I ranked as the shittiest of all phones of all time.

I have also been having numerous issues with my UMI Z after the upgrade to Nougat. The main issues I have are:

- When I disconnect from a Wifi network the mobile data stops working. Then if I switch on the 'airplane' mode I cannot go back to normal mode and the icon of the airplane starts blinking. So I have to restart the phone in the end to make the mobile data work...
- Some apps (like chrome and Facebook) sometimes hang when playing videos.
- When I make phone calls (or video calls) if I use the hands free mode the calls start getting lots of background noise and after a while it is so bad that I have to hang up and call again. This is a problem that I also had before the upgrade though.

Last time I buy an UMI. It is a real shame because the hardware seems to be quite good (apart from the camera) but the software is baaaad.

I've been having problems with my UMI Z for some days.
every time you leave a WiFi connection, the mobile data network does not activate automatically, so it is necessary to restart the device for it to work again.

this happens even if you are not connected to a WiFi network, the mobile data stops working.

I have already reset the system, reconfigure the APN settings, I have tried out more than one operator, but the error continues.

I found in a forum of voices, that other users of the UMI Z are also with this problem.

I wonder if any solution has already been released.

We tested those complaints on our testing devices and we couldn't confirm such issues. We always using latest firmware on our devices.
So please check for updates also please switch off Wi-Fi if fault occurs then phone should switch back to mobile data. I suspecting very weak Wi-Fi signal still coming to phone caused not switching back to mobile data.

No, but you can try to test all the problems, I have the same thing obliged to restart the phone, or so I have all the app that crashes (Facebook, googleplay etc ...) obliged to restart also, and then if we do not use the camera app by default, we have a very dark screen.
