Hi all.

Been away for a while since I cracked my screen and reverted back to my old phone but am finally looking into getting a replacement screen and midframe from aliexpress. I want to flash a stock ROM to take my Super back to brand new. Not fussed about root access but would like to keep TWRP if possible but not the end of the world if I can't. Just want a ROM that will be compatible with a replacement screen as I believe people have had issues with this in the past. I can't do OTA updates as I deleted some system apps after rooting the phone so will have to use the flash tool. I am currently running TWRP 3.0.2 by Jemmini and UMI SUPER V3.01_20160616 if that helps. Is it worth updating first or replacing the screen first?

Cheers guys

Tetsuo1981's concern is with losing is TWRP.  20161121 is the only rom that works with the new scr ...

Firstly you need flash working ROM then flash different ROM but you need uncheck preloader and all should be working.
Other option is to swap in firmware folder system and recover partitions (and any other partition which you like) and then flash. Of course you can only do this in same version of system (Android version).

hi, actually I replace 2 screens,  TWRP have touch problems with screen replacement. I have no problems with new screens but you must upgrade your firmware. In some cases replacement is for Umi Max and Upgrade ins necesary.

Thanks for the reply. Which ROM / firmware is the one needed for the screens to work? And is there a TWRP that will work with repaired screen?

Hi
You can update your phone after replacing screen in case you need to do this.
Definitely latest available ROM is including all TP drivers so I would advice you to use latest one Android 6.0 or 7.0.
You should use SPFT and if you don't want lose TWRP you can simply uncheck recovery partition on Android 6.0.
Here is all available ROMs

And here you have SPFT updating procedure

i loaded this rom because that is what the manufacturer recommended.  It did not work. i loaded 20161121  and it did make the screen work but it also makes it impossible to get into recovery at all. no twrp and no stock recovery.  Tried it 100 different ways to no avail.  nothing i tried works.  I have another thread asking for help about this but its new so no help yet.  This also makes it so you cannot have root or use supersu.  So buyer beware.  But what are you gonna do if your screen is cracked.  If you find a way to make it where you can use twrp with a new screen please let me know.  I am suffering without twrp and supersu and root.

Sorry but I don't understand your explanation why I am wrong with my explanation and advice.
This doesn't make sense "if you have new screen you can't use new screen".
After replacing screen you can simply use SPFT actually SPFT you can use anytime to fix your phone.

20161121 this rom will not allow you to start the phone into recovery at all. This is disabled and you cannot use  the newest roms available because they are not compatible with the new screens.  The old screens work fine with the newest roms but not the new screens.  Tetsuo1981's concern was with being able to use TWRP.  Sure you can flash TWRP to the phone just fine but there is no way to boot into Recovery after it is flashed because this is disabled in the only working rom for the new screens.
