This is the SP Flash Tool + OTA release of the
V3.02_20170412 Android 7.0 firmware
for UMI Plus

Flash tool operation is recommended for experienced users only. Do not use it if you cannot understand the whole process!
UMI Plus receives all updates automatically via FOTA method. You need this tool only in case of emergency (if you've bricked your phone), if you want to apply a clean install or if you want to clear all root access and custom recovery to make your phone able to receive FOTA updates again.

Always flash this ROM as 'Firmware Upgrade', not 'Download Only' if you are upgrading an Android 6.0 system!

Changelog:
  • Error report of power-saving mode fixed
  • Dialing issue in Russia region fixed
  • Faster fingerprint unlock
  • Error report of power saving mode fixed
  • HALL music playing issue fixed
  • Updated kernel and Android security patch

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SP Flash Tool
Resources:

Flashtool tutorials: UMI Forum or androidxda guide or YouTube guide (you can google a lot of other solutions and guides)

>>>>> ROM: 20170412_c239v55_kw_u3.rar <<<<< - Extract the .rar file before use. The scatter file (MT6755_Android_scatter.txt) is inside the extracted folder, together with the other elements

VCOM driver: Windows 10 already automatically can install it or you can use this: MTK_Driver_Auto_Installer_SP_Drivers_20160804.exe

Here's an optional solution to start the flashing process on your UMI Plus if the standard method doesn't work.
It's especially useful if your phone is bricked or is stuck in bootloop
1. Connect your UMI Plus to USB.
2. Start the flashing process with the Download button in the flasher app.
3. Press and keep pressed the power button of your phone until the flashing process starts (red bar appears at the bottom of the app window), then release it. In this process you have to keep the power button pressed for about 10 seconds.
4. Wait until the flashing process finishes.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OTA (recovery) update
Manual (local) OTA update method instructions
  • Copy the downloaded .zip file to either the internal memory or the SD card of your phone
  • Go to Settings --> About phone --> Wireless update
  • Tap the 3-dot menu button at the top right corner and select Local updates
  • Brows for the ...update.zip file and select it
  • Tap Install now, comfirm the process with OK and wait until the process will be finished

>>>>> Update file for manual OTA update: UMi_Plus_V3.02_20170412_update.zip <<<<<

Optional method (in case if the manual OTA update gets stuck): Install from recovery
You need a microSD card (with at least 4GB capacity) installed in your phone!
  • Copy the ...update.zip file to your SD card
  • Press and hold the volume-up and power buttons together until your phone restarts. It needs about 10 seconds or a little bit less if your phone was already powered off.
  • When your phone is restarted, immediately release the power button but still hold the vol-up button until you see a lying android figure with an exclamation mark in red triangle on its tummy.
  • Press and hold the power and vol-up buttons (in this order) together, then release them to call the recovery menu. Now you can move with the volume buttons and select an item with the power button.
  • Move to ‘Apply update from SD card’ and select it.
  • On the next screen brows for the update file and select it. The updating process will start and needs a few minutes to be finished.
  • After a succcessful installation you can read the ''Install from sdcard complete'' message and the receovery menu is available again.
  • Select 'Reboot system now'. Alternatively you can perform a factory data reset here by choosing 'Wipe data/factory reset'

Kind request from users:
Please report any kind of new issues you experience after installing this update only if you've already flashed this ROM with SP Flash Tool in Firmware Upgrade mode. In rare cases a FOTA update can cause more or less serious malfunctions but that means only the update process went wrong, not a badly developed ROM. An updated stock ROM, especially related to the basic functions will not cause any new issues but will solve some of the existing ones.

You can buy voltage , current charging adapter which you connecting between charger and USB wire.  ...

According to UMi information about UMi Plus model the fast charge may work charging full batery in 100 minutes (1h and 40min) not 2.5~3 hours. In addition in previous ROM batery full charges in 100 minutes.

Hi,

I installed this latest update(manually). Conclusion: the guys from forum are right, the fast charging is gone, does not work. Why Umi, how can you release an update if is not properly tested?
Instead to release a phone/month, please focus on good updates with proper testing.
Please send this problem to engineers to start working ASAP for creating a update that fix the fast charging problem. I am thinking to sell my Umi Plus and in the future I will not buy or recommend Umi until I will hear that it offers good updates support.

Hi,

I'm new to UMI phones.
First of all thank you for the new firmware - I flashed it some days ago.

For me, everything's working fine (GPS is ok, as long as you use the internal sensor AND mobile data for positioning), except some little things.

Is there and option to change or disable the two shortcuts down left and right on lock screen?
Another thing is, when turning screen on, but stay in lock screen (not unlock with fingerprint or PIN), I can use volume + and - keys.
This is not good, when phone is in pocket and somehow I press power on and then volume down - if the phone rings after that, I won't hear it.
Could you please look at this, so volume changing is possible only when screen is unlocked? Or is there an option to disable the volume keys in lock screen?

Thanks,
ts7348

Nice changelog. Where is the GPS and constant CPU usage fix? Or maybe solve the downgrade to 6.0.
Will give it a try anyway.

Tested.
Nothing changed.
No GPS. In factory mode -> Power + Vol Down -> Item Test -> GPS it takes 11 sec to lock position, so it's no hardware problem
CPU Usage constantly at 60-70% without the phone doing anything.

Make downgrade possible!!!!!!!!!!

Hello everyone

I'm still with Android 6.0. (Not rooted) with the request to update to "V3.01_20161209 Android 7.0 firmware for UMI Plus"

Due to the complaints I have read, about the update for android 7 I would like to know if there is any PC program that can back up UMI PLUS Android 6.0 (not rooted) so that I can revert in case something goes wrong.

Thank you

Hi,
With SP Flash Tool you can flash (install) any earlier version and they are also available here, so you don't need to backup the one installed on your phone.

You cannot downgrade with SP Flash Tool.  There is a problem with the roms posted here and the display does not work with Android 6.you can aldo check forum for umi London. Similar problem when flashing rom, except in that case touch screen stops working. Seems to me that umi is turning into elephone. Lots of devices with terrible software.
No more Umi phones for me!!
Anyway. Better not update if you want your battery to last longer than 12 hours

To keep app settings in Android 6.0 saved under Android 7.0 can cause serious malfunction, so please forget about it. You can sync your account with google.

For your sake I flashed now the latest (20161019) Android 6.0 version over this latest Android 7.0 ROM on my test device and it works without any issues. Hope you believe me and don't need a video record.
Flash it in Firmware Upgrade mode, don't try to keep or restore your user data if you downgrade from 7.0.
