UMIDIGI and MediaTek: The stance on Custom Rom's for the Z Pro

Can I get a show of hands as to how many of us on the forum would like to see Lineage (or any other Custom ROM) on our Z Pro's

I've had the Z Pro for a week now and I have noticed many niggling, intermittent issues with the touchscreen, fingerprint reader, bluetooth audio, app installation and synchronization. It pains me to say it but the software builds for this phone are just too buggy!

The support is unsatisfactory.

The new Nougat build is just as problematic.  Plus, a lack of system options leads me to wishing for a LineageOS port.

The Umidigi Z Pro hardware is more than worthy of a lineage port, official or otherwise.
Can we get any official word from Umidigi and MediaTek about the posibility of real release of source code so that the ever growing community of Umi / Umidigi smartphone users can get the very best value from their hardware?

There is an open petition to encourage UMIDIGI and MediaTek to release the Source Code so that developers can begin making custom roms for the Z Pro. Please sign. Thank you

Edited by samuelqwe at 2017-6-26 04:17 \n\nI have a Z Pro and it is buggy. LineageOS wouldn't only fix these issues, it would improve the experience.

Good idea :-) M.A.D got involved on the vernee apollo lite and the rom / phone became almost a joy to use over a glitchy bad of rubbish on Vernee's efforts.

Surely the makers would benefit from help? ease there workload maybe for a free phone for development. backward thinking with what seems a nicely made handset and build

I works just fine on  V3.01_20170321 just folow this guide http://community.umidigi.com/thread-2962-1-1.html. You dont need to flash the hole rom you just reflash the recovery. It works for all versions.

TWRP and root access is already available for UMIDIGI Z Pro, for all UMI/UMIDIGI devices, just UMIDIGI C NOTE is not available yet. Here you can find the steps to install TWRP and gain root access on your UMI/UMIDIGI device: http://community.umidigi.com/for ... &highlight=twrp .

FIXED!

Install NOA rom. Boot and set up phone.
Power down.
Flash TWRP via flash tool.
Boot into recovery straight away.
Install SuperSU inside TWRP.
Reboot.
Profit!

Rom is excellent!

It's working on Umidigi Z Pro.
I installed TWRP and that works but after coming out of recovery it no longer wants to boot.
Will re-flash and and keep testing.
FYI Camera software looks like Umidigi version.  It's shame because the Gemini Pro version looks way better in my opinion.
Also... NOA have http://noa-mobile.eu/element/h10le smartphone on Preorder. Possible that the Android 7.1.1 rom from this handset will work on Z Pro to.

Keep up the good work peeps. The Z Pro users will be happy one day

Friends, Please can I ask that you post  the petition link on as many Umi Z / Umidigi Z pro related video's on youtube?
We need as many comments on videos in as many languages as possible.
I would be very grateful.

Thank you,
