Hi,

I have used the UMI Z for about 3 weeks with no issues. The speaker just stopped working.

The microphone, bluetooth sound works fine still without any issues.

The speaker will turn on intermittently and work for about 5-10 minutes and then stop.

Does anyone have any solutions on how to fix the speakers through software, update, or other methods? I believe that the speaker works fine but the software updates has caused my speaker to stop working.

The phone works fine with all other features and i have no complaints other than the speaker not working.

If you have such issues, please backup your data and flash the latest ROM on your phone with SP Flash Tool.

OTA updates do not fix specific (unique) software bugs since they replace only the updated components, not the whole software.

Can people post here is they have speaker problems? Maybe UMI will fix this problem. It's a big issue with their phones.

It could be a software bug, but it could be a hardware issue too.

Hi,
for me the speaker didn't work at all, so maybe you are facing a software problem?
I've sent it back to reseller, so now I'm waiting for a new one.
Hope you solve your problem.

Looking into the issue, this is a very common problem with the UMI Z phones. A co-worker also bought the UMI Z and has issues with their speaker. They reset the software and now the phone works. I really feel this is a problem with the UMI Z. The speaker is a huge issue. I'm thinking this is a hardware problem.
The return policy with UMI is not good, and customer support did not contact me when I emailed them for support. I am very concerned with this brand and may go back to another manufacturer.

Also you can type in to call dialer *#*#33#*#* and go to single test and loudspeaker.

This happened to me today. The dialer test failed as well. Rebooted and the phone is fine. So this is def a solftware issue.  I believe this has something to do with bluetooth on this phone. It's really bad.I'm betting my phone thought it still had a bluetooth device paired.

Update:

Speaker now does not work. Headset and Bluetooth audio still works fine.
1. Reboot phone does not fix the problem.
2. Factory reset does not fix the problem.
3. Hardware loudspeaker test fails.

Contacted UMI directly and did not get a response. The store where the phone was purchased offered to replace the phone, but I can't afford to send the phone back as this is the only phone I have. I offered to purchase a new UMI Z phone and send this back for a refund when received.

Honestly this is a huge issue and UMI needs to address this immediately. Alot of UMI Z loudspeakers are failing.

I looked online and there is no replacement loudspeaker parts available for this phone for people who are willing to fix this themselves.

My point is that the loudspeaker is faulty with the UMI Z phone. Anyone else have another solution other than sending the phone back?

Yeah, been there, done that. -.- You can't have your alarm clock failing you, when your life almost depends on it.
