So i saw that Umi added tap to wake the screen in the latest UMI Z marshmallow update.

Now to my question, why haven't this been implemented for the umi super? Do umi despise their users for any other device then their latest and greatest? I mean this is a company that released 9 phones in less than a year which is EXTREME even by Chinese standards.

Will Umi super ever get it? All the necessary sensors is in the device so why not actually give your users for this device a nice additional feature for a better android experience?

I dunno - Tap to wake really only makes sense if you have no lock screen at all (no PIN, no pattern, ...

Disagree.

Tap to wake has great benefits, mostly supporting convenient use:

  • No need to press in an awkward position the power button, especially with applied silicone case
  • No need to lift up the phone from the night stand for fingerprint reading
  • No mechanical stress on the power button
  • Quick check of time

Who knows what else...

Thanks. I think the fact umi z just received tap2wake is a indication it will be implemented in other umi updates in the future. Fingers crossed.

I dunno - Tap to wake really only makes sense if you have no lock screen at all (no PIN, no pattern, no fingerprint...) But of coure if you don't, I can see  the benefit from just tapping the screen to see if there are any notifications while the phone is still on the table, but - Well, I've had a tap to wakr phone, but as company policies forces a lock of some kind, I really didn't use it. But then again - It can't be all that hard to add, can it, UMi?

I'm personally a big fan of tap2wake. It's a feature that should be on the umi super regardless of the fact that the super has a fingerprint scanner (that since the last couple updates doesn't work). Doesn't the umi z also have a scanner BTW?

BTW, if you don't want to have phone security for unlocking the screen, there are client level exchange policy protection supported by some mail clients, e.g. Nine or Mailwise.

To use the finger print to call the device awake to me is good enough! I am in generally happy with my Umi Super! No other mobile phone company will add on the same function for their old phones. To be fair for the money I pay for with a powerful phone I am happy!

Just because this is a Chinese phone so you could ask for more and pay less?
