i like my new umi super, its my first android phone, i came from an iPhone 5s..

a few things i noticed that seem to be standard,

1. Volume is pitifull on the speakers.. i even tried the engineer mode but still its not very loud
2. camera is very VERY noisy in low light... for a panasonic camera this is poor, cameraMX does not seem to make it better
3. i really, really want to use google on tap from the hardware home button, i tried the accesibility buttons option but cant get it to work.
4. battery life is a lot less than i would expect from a large battery, i have disabled wifi scanning etc and i did not receive a fast charger in the box, as i am in the UK the seller provided a simple 1amp charger.

- does the Super have a proper quick charge ? i purchased a qualcomm quickcharge 3 charger and usb3 to usb-c cables

overall, its a great device, with a few flaws that i can live with but would like to fix, im looking forward to the OTA 7 upgrade and may actually purchase the umi z or umi e plus

I have no problem with the sound and or the GPS. I have to say the camera is not the best in the work but personally, I feel this is acceptable for the price!

Going from 5S to a Umi Super. How can you manage with the bad camera quality. Have you tried the GPS? The large screen is the only thing that beats the 5S.

Edited by deejc at 2017-2-13 04:26 \n\nAs my first step into the android world the super is great but the camera is a shocker, in good light it's ok, in any kind of artificial light, forget it.
I haven't used the GPS much but Waze and android auto seemed to work on the couple of times I tried them.
The most annoying thing I have found is that I can't use Google now on tap from the home button. The volume seems much louder after a reboot and the tweaks in engineer mode.
For 150 quid I can live with the niggles, I am looking at the pixel phone tho which completely defeats the object of a cheap phone

I just wondering did you definitely purchased umi super.
The easiest way is check in settings - about phone - model number.
And you can check memory settings - memory (total memory should be 3.8 GB)
I would definitely open despite to seller if sent wrong charger and ask for  free genuine charger!

You can add Google to your shortcut button (attached).
Also I am sure you can find a way to bind it to the Home button. Though not sure why you would do that. Home button has the function to show the app list if you press it longer, or to go back to the home screen pressing it shorter.
You can use voice to activate google search (OK, Google).

For the camera:
It was pretty shitty for me, but I could make it quite good even in dark scenes with OpenCamera app.
As I have photography as my hobby, I could fine tune it to take nice pictures. I usually activate the flash to be constantly on.
I have attached one for you.
