Battery not charging - UMI Iron Pro

Had my Iron Pro for 4 days but now the battery will not charge unless the phone is switched off.

Have tried using the boxed cable and charger as well as different chargers and cables.

Have now factory reset phone back to stock and no difference.

Any help?

This one works for my phone.

I also bought a cheap usb c adapte, that works fine in combination with my old Samsung cable.

In my case the white original UMI cable didn't work (only if the phone is turned off). A new aftermarket cable is working.

Do you get an error message a few seconds after you connected your phone to the charger? What about if you connect it the a computer USB?

No error message and connecting to the computer via USB also does nothing. If the phone is switched off it will again charge via USB connected to PC. I have also managed to factory reset it via USB using  Flash tool which requires phone to be in a powered off state. Just no charge / connection from mains or computer when phone is on.

quite a weird situation. You should test with a specific tool whether your phone drains some current from the charger or not. Try to change between the available USB connection types. Set the Charging only option.

Hi Iphillimore,

As a resume, when you have Iron Pro switched off you can charge phone without problems with charger and by USB from computer, but if is switched ON you can't charge it and phone is not detected by computer. Very very strange situation.

Please could you check following?:

1.- Download MTK Engineering Mode apk
2.- open apk
3.- Go to MTK Settings
4.- Go to "Hardware Testing" going to the right
5.- Go down and select UART/USB switch
6.- I don't know if will be supported because I'm waiting for Iron Pro but if is supported, please mak "UART"

If is not supported tell me because we will do another thing

Hi guys

Are you using the original cable or an universal one? I do not have any issues with the white original cable which came with the UMI Iron Pro. However when I'm using an aftermarket USB C cable I also can only charge it when it is turned off! I now have ordered some other cables. I hope it's working with them. I do also not get any connection to the PC with the other cables. Other phones are working well, just the UMI Iron Pro does not work with this cables. Try if you can connect it to the pc with your cable. If not, you have the same issue as I do. As soon as I turn the phone on I loose the power connection.

Firmware bug?

Thanks for your replies. I have since sent the phone back and am expecting a replacement today. Hopefully i wont get this issue again.
