UMI may have suffered from the security glitches when launching the Z2 pro. Basically z2 pro created a storm when many users found the phone could lock itself out when it first rebooted. Judging from the curent silence from the forum members here the flaw should have been substantially if not succesfully rectified after the first wifi update was released two days ago. The damage, however, could have been done as many reported to have sent the phones back before the update was released.
UMI might have left with more stock than it like and is now dropping the price secretly in the UMI shop. The price you see in Aliexpress is higher than the price you have to pay when you decide to buy. I got a Ceramic Edition as a presale order in August at £284 from Gearbest and has just ordered another one today for £260 from Aliexpress. For some reason Gearbest is not taking any order for z2 pro which is now priced at a much higher level than Aliexpress.
My first z2 pro did have security problems as others but has been working normally if I opted not to use 2/3 of the available security functions, using only the password to start the phone thereafter using either the fingerprint or face to unlock. After the first wifi update I get the last 2/3 of the security functions back and some minor improvements to the phone.
My second phone is for the wife as she is using her s2 pro which has given us no bother at all. However we do get ac wifi, wireless charge and 4 instead of 3 cameras at higher definition with the z2 pro. S2 pro has been reported having an update difficulties with its missing support from the UMI OS.
This may be the time to get a cheap Z2 pro which were admitted by all purchasers looks a premium phone with premium gadgets now that the security glitches have been resolved. The price drops apparently lasts for 3 days. |
