I'm sorry but the UMI OS based phones are unrootable. Thanks to the Efuse partition protection, that's not possible to flash modified boot and recovery partitions.

It's possible but currently I'm not sure since this model is not in production anymore. Currently there are no MediaTek based smartphones on earth, that have received an Oreo upgrade since MediaTek has provided nothing to make it possible. So at the moment I can't promise you anything.

I'm afraid this model still might receive updates of the current system but surely won't receive a completely new system. The Efuse protection can't be removed.

Things have a little bit changed. That's possible this phone will receive an Oreo upgrade (not earlier than in May) but currently we can't promise anything certain. There are no certain plans about it at the moment, so maybe it will not happen.

Other manufacturers already sell phones on Android 8 on this processor, but even the current latest firmware for this phone is very raw, it has a lot of bugs, the camera takes pictures simply disgusting. I'm very sorry that I bought this phone. There is not even an opportunity to make a root and finish the firmware on its own.
