There are not 2 cameras, the top one is fake. Try covering the top camera with some tape, notice you can still use the "bokeh" effect just fine

Nope, already tested, the top "camera" does absolutely nothing at all and does not affect photos in any way whatsoever, low light or not. It's a fake.

Main camera is for taking pictures but second camera is working as light and distance sensor, second camera is increasing light access in dark conditions also is focusing correctly background in different conditions.
There is no fake camera as camera is existing.

I still say nope, tested over and over again, repeated the same tests with the top camera covered or not covered, no difference whatsoever on: focus, exposure, brightness, stability, capture speed, saturation or noise.

No difference at all. If the top camera is indeed not fake, it is utterly, 100% useless as it makes no change whatsoever to photos you take, whether you cover it or not. I would still wager that it IS fake, as dual cameras is the "hot trend" now. Many other chinese budget phone manufacturers are also putting fake secondary cameras.

Maybe UMI will make use of the second camera if it is indeed real with a ROM update. They should fix the laggy scrolling in certain scenarios (play store, settings app, facebook messenger etc) first though.

Will the camera be fixed, it's very poor image quality and only using 1 sensor of the 2 available on the rear

Camera is really disappointing. Bit misleading to make us think it's a modern camera, well performing and dual camera when it's not dual camera and incredibly poor quality.

Could you please share some sample photos of yours? What would you expect from a $100/130 value smartphone?

Edited by Roph at 2017-9-22 21:15 \n\nCould you share the sensor name?

One trend I have seen is companies taking front facing cameras and re-purposing them as the main rear facing camera.

For example, the Sony IMX219 is a popular sensor that's used in this way, 8MP designed as a (at least higher-end) front-facing camera, though many china phone makers will re-purpose it as a rear facing one, and also do their "interpolation" to pretend that it's 13MP. You claim to use a Samsung sensor; what is its model number? Usually SK-something.

Could you also confirm the second (top) sensor on the back is indeed fake? See near the end of the last page, it really makes no difference at all whether you cover the top "camera" or not to pictures taken.

And while you're here, are you guys aware of the laggy / stuttering scrolling in certain cases? Play store, settings app, etc. Even when the phone is otherwise idle. Try swiping away a notification and it will freeze for a second before fully going off the screen. Will you be addressing this in an OTA?

Try to reboot the phone, it worked for me but I am also experiencing low volume in the headset despite to set the volume at max.

specs state it's samsung and dual and marketing claims it's great in low light and implies leading capabilities.. reality is far from truth. if it's budget camera and sensor then it should be advertised as such

"See The World Without Boundaries
13MP+5MP SAMSUNG® Dual-Lens Cameras
The dual 13MP + 5MP SAMSUNG® rear cameras are able to absorb more light compared to the standard single-sensor, giving you better results. Capture your best moments in high quality and use the DSLR-like bokeh effect."
