Hi Guys,
I've been using the Z for a few weeks now with the build number Z.V3.02_20170317. The issues I've seen so far are:
* Loudspeaker would stop working (no sound coming out of the main loudspeaker) at random time after reboot, but all the other sound emitting sources will work OK. It has never happened whilst using the loudspeaker, though.
-> I've noticed that in such situation the sound does come out from the telephone earpiece (the loudspeaker you use to hear the conversation whilst in a call). It seems to me that somehow the sound output gets switched from the loudspeaker to the earpiece with no obvious option to turn it back to the main loudspeaker. In this scenario, if I make a call to, say, the answering machine number and through the call options (during the call) I switch the sound from the earpiece to hands-free (which uses the loudspeaker), the call sound will come out nicely. Then hanging up the call whilst in hands-free will make the UMI Z loudspeaker work normally again.
-> Due to this issue with the sound output not being reliable and hence myself not getting awaken by the alarm in the morning in two occasions now, I've configured the alarms to also use vibration. Now it vibrates and wakes me up regardless of the sound coming out or not.
* Sensors malfunction: in my phone all the acc, gyro and mag will stop reporting correct data at random time after a reboot. This will then prevent the correct usage of screen rotation on apps, or use orientation on Google Maps, etc.
-> the only workaround I've found so far is to reboot the phone. As I've been forced to be doing this in a daily basis, I'm using now the power options to auto-off and auto-on 5 minutes later the phone at some point in the middle of the night, every night, automatically. But, of course, this will reset the RAM and any running app will get closed.
* The notification light is not showing any steady colour other than red, green or blue. If I set whatsapp, for example, to use different colours for different types of messages, they won't work properly: if you configure it to show a color other than pure red, blue or green then it will be used a combination of these basic colours to produce the configured one (e.g. to produce magenta it will be combined red and blue). The issue here is that one colour will slowly fade in and out nicely but the other one will stay solid-on (no fading) so the intended colour is shown only during a split second during the fading cycle (i.e., continuing with the magenta example, the red light will stay solid whilst the blue one will fade-cycle showing a colour progression from red to magenta to red again). To further investigate I've tried to configure and see different notification light colours using a different free app to do exactly that, and the results are as explained before. It is a visual effect that makes difficult to understand what is the real colour you are being notified. Additionally, as one light will be kept on constantly, this could also affect battery drain.
-> no workaround that I've found so far.
Hope this helps others!
UMI guys: please let me know if I could be of any help to you here.
Cheers!
