7.1.1 won't be released, 8.0 is possible (not sure) but not sooner than the end of this year.

In such cases you can flash the updated version with SP Flash Tool without the userdata partition (last one in the list) to keep your user data.

1st update crashed my Umidigi Z1 Pro. I flashed device. Received this 100MB upgrade, my Umidigi Z1 Pro crashed again after update...........
Two updates, Two crashes....... (I think i should have learnt my lessons now). Never to update again ......
Umidigi, this is absolutely not good enough .............. (have to flash my device again losing all)

The latest OTA update generally doesn't cause such issues. You can flash a ROM without the userdata partition to avoid losing your data. Please check your IMEI numbers.

Did the OTA update, resulting in the grey screen. However I cannot enter recovery mode with power & volume up buttons, whenever I try the screen just fades away. After connecting the phone to laptop, the phone keeps hanging in the UMIDIGI starting screen, I cannot boot anymore like I could before, when the screen turned grey after about 10 seconds..
This way I cannot flash with laptop and restore to stock ROM. Is there any other way to un-brick the phone? Many thanks!

Well my color issue variant was blue. I managed to get into recovery: holding volume up + power button until umidigi logo appeared, then still holding just volume up button, until android robot with "no command" appeared. Then I pushed again, both volume up+power button for approx 1-2seconds and then recovery menu appeared after I released both buttons, so I chose to factory reset/wipe data.

Hi everyone, I'm a new Italian user. I would like to give you some expert information on Umidigi Z1 PRO.
I'm very undecided about buying this smartphone because I read in your posts that caused problems with updates. I would not buy the phone and then I can not use it because of these problems. I'm not a modding expert.
My question is this: with the OTA update risk that the smartphone has problems?
Umidigi solved the problem ??

I can give you my personal experience on owing Umidigi Z1 Pro. I received 2 OTA updates, both updates bricked my device.
I flashed ROM back after 1st update brick.
2nd update brick, I flashed device back, but has baseband issues (I lost both imei numbers). Tried to rectify with all known tools, could not rectify.

It's at a phoneshop (almost 7 days to see if they can rectify). I should pick up tomorrow (hopefully fixed)

If Umidigi will not solve this problem, they will lose many customers who will purchase other smartphones from other brands.
Too bad it could be an interesting smartphone.
