Welcome to the club. Forget about any support and warranty. What Umidigi says it's just a fraud. Bin your phone and buy a new one...

So...I have been able to get the phone apart and have even taken the battery out and then plugged it into the charger and still get the loop:

Any suggestions on what could be the problem?

Not as of yet as wanted to be sure it was definitely the battery...As i said, i even took the battery out and it did the same thing.

Could it be the charging port?

If you tried charge phone with battery disconnected you could damage motherboard.
If you get new battery and still you get some similar issues then you could use SPFT and flash complete ROM.

Is it worth me trying to use SPFT and Flash before getting a new battery?...If so, could you give me the steps to do this?

This is only your decision.
Of course this will void warranty if you use incorrectly. Please read whole process and warnings before use.
Here is SPFT instruction

And here all available ROMs

But the warranty is already useless anyway as the seller is refusing to do anything about it and if i replace the battery then that will void the warranty as well...But i will try these, thanks.

I tried starting the flashing process, but my computer doesnt even recognise the phone when i plug it in with the USB, so i cant even install the drivers.

Would you say it is still a battery issue?

SPFT can flash system without power supply to motherboard. You can also disconnect battery and SPFT would flash system.
Did you follow flashing, installing drivers etc instruction???
