To all posters in this thread:

I fully appreciate that when you have an issue with your new phone that you are annoyed. I would be too.
However, most people who buy an UMI handset are very happy and do not experience the issues that some other people have.

Also...please check the forum for existing threads which discuss your issue in stead of creating a new topic, and only discuss one issue per thread.

Kretek...

I do not know what is causing your particular speed issue.
You say that when you use USB-OTG that the speed is good. That would indicate that the issue is not with the handset/USB connector.

I suggest you try another USB lead and also connect to another computer, if you haven't done so already.

I'm another with this issue.  Couldn't even connect via rootjoy to start with to update to v1.6 so has to manually work around to get ADB drivers on my PC to connect to rootjoy.  Did this by installing pdanet.  USB stick i already had still works fine at proper speeds with my Win7 PC, but connecting my Iron now only allows super-slow transfers.  As in ridiculous.  Transferring say a 1GB file would take ridiculously long (900 KB a second)...so i'm guessing USB 1.0 speeds.  I do get the 'Your Device Can Perform Faster...' windows message when connecting by USB, but i have no conflicting devices in device manager to update drivers for.  USB Storage mode does not recognise the phone to browse at all, media file (MTP) mode allows access but is slow as stated.

Anybody have any ideas?

I am puzzled, as I have described in the above post.

Thank you for the detailed description of your issue Jonny.

Could I ask you too to try a file transfer on another computer. You say that you receive the "your device..." message which usually indicates that the connected device is connected to a slower speed USB port.

I am not saying that is the case but it would be helpful if we can test on multiple devices.

Could you also try a different USB cable. I am not sure if either of you are using the provided lead or not...this too would be helpful to know.

The slow USB transfert issue is encountered by every Iron's owner. OTG connections and PC connections are not using the same "software" parts and it's why Otg works fine.

Could you try in TWRP recovery whether you experience the same slow data transfer or not? Just don't forget to mount the internal storage and enable MTP.

I am puzzled, as I have described in the above post.

Thank you for the detailed description of your ...

The port is definitely USB 2.0 as i use it all the time for (much) faster transfers to a USB stick.

I'm using the same cable that i have (and am using) on different phones (e.g. the girlfriends Galaxy S4) to transfer files.

There doesn't seem to be any issue with the PC, as USB 2.0 is working from all ports as normal.  Why would the Iron be working on (presumably) USB 1.0 speeds?

Has anybody got any suggestions for wi-fi file transfer solutions in the meantime?  I used Kies in the past on my old Galaxy S2 which was pretty good (although not as user friendly as just file browsing through USB connection)
