Hello, I want to flash through SPFT because my phone is bricked and I don't know how to install the VCOM drivers. The thing is that, as the phone is unibody, I don't know how to completely turn OFF my phone and avoid to get it charged when I plug it to the PC. How can I do this? I always flashed phones by retiring the battery, but this is not the case

Also, if you've had flash fails, I would do a format first before attempting to reflash the phone.

Go to the second tab called FORMAT and make sure FORMAT WHOLE FLASH WITHOUT BOOTLOADER is selected.  This will clear the failed flash from your device.

You should still be able to flash the phone even if the preloader keeps disconnecting because it only needs to connect for long enough for the flash to start and you should be okay.

Use a Windows 7 PC/laptop if you possibly can because they work much better with the MTK USB VCOM driver for some reason.

Comments

Attention! NEVER format the flash chip of your (MTK SoC based) phone without making a backup copy of the NVRAM partition, or you will lose the IMEI numbers permanently!  Post time 2015-9-24 15:34

Hi,

You can completely power off your phone by keeping pressed the power button for 10 seconds. If you're in a case of a boot loop shorter than 10 seconds, you have to keep pressed all the three side buttons.

Edited by paveltrufi at 2015-9-8 19:19 \n\nOk I followed your steps but I'm not able to flash it yet.

When I press the power button it appears as "Mediatek PreLoader USB... (COM4)", but it is not able to flash because of the fast boot loop. It gets me the message "BROM ERROR : S_BROM_CMD_START_CMD_FAIL (2005). [BROM] Can not pass bootrom start command! Possibly target power up too early. [HINT]"

And when I press all the three buttons, it appears as detected device "serial USB Device (COM5)" and tries to start flashing, but it stucks at "Download DA 100%" and after a couple of seconds it gets me the message "BROM ERROR: S_FT_ENABLE_DRAM_FAIL (4032). [EMI] Enable DRAM Failed! [HINT]: Please check your load matches to your target wich is to be downloaded."

Edit: I am using version 5.15.16 os SPFT and drivers are installed

1. Use the latest flash tool. SP-Flash-Tool-v5.1528
2. Button press is for power off only but you have to connect your phone to USB without pressing any button.
3. Choose the 'Firmware Upgrade' option in SPFT.

Edited by paveltrufi at 2015-9-8 20:48 \n\nI am not able to put my phone in VCOM unless I press the power button when it's plugged I don't know why

I already tried that version and it doesn't work either. Same errors.

I even tried to go to the chinese recovery in order to try to make a format factory from there, but when I choose recovery option (by pressing power + vol. down) it gets me the message "No command found".

I don't know what else can I do; nothing like this happened ever to me

PS: I also tried to do this by opening the battery, but the PC doesn't recognise it with the battery removed

You can get into recovery by pressing vol-up + power. That Chinese menu (with vol-down button) is the factory mode where you can run hardware tests. The recovery has English UI.
You only can get into preloader (VCOM) mode with button press if the battery is non existent or completely exhausted but you can't flash your phone in that state. Is that the situation at you? For proper flashing you need some power in your battery and connect your phone without button pressing. You also might need to reinstall the driver or replace the USB cable.

Please, check if you connect your phone to USB while pressing vol-down button, whether you can see a new COM port for a few seconds in the windows device manager or not. If yes, but without button pressing you can't see anything, then you should remove the battery and charge it with an external charger for a while, then try again with flashing. If you earlier tried to connect your phone with button pressing, then you were on a wrong way. For proper flashing you have to connect to USB without pressing any buttons on your phone.

He said that, phone is not charging. Don't ask pointless questions as some Chinese traders do to play for time.
