Yes I read but I would be sure that saying "charging or connecting to PC" means that he used a wall charger too and not only the USB connection with PC to charge it. So sorry if it's useless

Please, check if you connect your phone to USB while pressing vol-down button, whether you can see ...

No sign of any new COM port displayed in the Device Manager with/without pressing down the Vol-down button or vol-down/power button combination.

You didn't mention whether you tried another USB cable or changed the wall charger only.

I've tried 3 different USB cables (that is the one from UMI, Blackberry and another from a Chinese OEM - Infinix) All these 3 USB cables I've used successfully in recent past with the UMI Iron and they worked. No it no longer does.

Possible issues:
1. The micro USB connector of your phone is physically damaged - check if it's intact or not.
2. Your phone is still powered on - keep pressed the power button for at least 10 seconds.
3. The battery is completely exhausted and the UMI Iron can't establish any kind of USB connection without battery - you should take out the battery and charge it with an external charger.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I had previous night charged the phone to 100% and in the morning following that used the phone to about 50% before this issue occured so I doubt its the USB charging contact or the battery power low. Besides that what external battery charger head can charge the battery since its a flex connector head?

Yes, the ribbon cable would need some wiring for an external charger. At least you should take out the battery and measure its voltage. I can't help anymore without your phone in hand.

Thanks a lot for the suggestions. I've packaged the phone back and waiting to return to the re-seller who hopefully should return same back to the manufacturer sad to see this go. All the best to others having a good run.
