Dear users,

The video playback starts at the decoding of the video stream and the video decoder of  ...

Thank you. I know the amount of pixels will be the same and I am not trying to play 2k or 4k normal videos. I am talking about spherical 360 videos where you see only 1/6 of video on the screen. There is a plenty of mobile phones with FHD display that can play 4k spherical videos (that is why i am using 1080s/2160s not 1080p/20160p). I know there is a cap for recording video 1080p/30fps but playing video should be supported. You can see here that this chip features "4K Video Encoder".

I am just trying to find if it is software problem or if I ll have to settle with 1080s as maximum for VR headset (which looks like 240p btw).

Nevermind, you can close this topic. I found out on official website of Mediatek that it really does support max 1080p. Pity tho, all other chipsets (P20, X10, X20, X25) support 4k.

Yes, my answer had multiple threads. One of them spoke about the limitations of the processor.

Youtube can play only maximum screen resolution.
Other players can play 4k movies but they are in max screen resolution.
