Anybody from UMI willing to comment on this?

Is this something that can be worked out with a software update or is it a hardware issue?

Dear users,

A new FOTA update is expected to be released this weekend or in the first half of the next week. That update will contain improvements related to the LTE reception too, so I suggest you to wait for that update and install it as soon as it will be available.

Regards,
Bence

The new OTA update has done nothing to make the 4g signal any better than it was before. I can still rarely connecting to 4g when my old Oneplus One had 4g all the time.

This is really annoying. The following link shows the 4g speeds I was getting before. Now I'm stuck on a pretty weak 3g connection.

I love this phone and have no other issues with it. However the poor connection means it is not fit for purpose.

UMI, do you think this is a hardware issue that warrants a return?

Network is very unstable. My UMI Super drops the 4G-network much faster compared to iPhone, even my old Doogee Valencia has better reception.

I've the same problem.

I'm with Three UK, running latest update 16/06.
Since the update can't get 4G at all. Phone always stays on 3G (three network is only 3G, 4G, no 2G at all).
I've checked SIM card in MOTO X FORCE - got 4G immediately.

Before the update phone was getting 4G once in a while - not so often as Moto X Force - but still.

Also I've noticed that it takes a lot longer to register to network while moving from area without any network signal - since the latest update 16/6.

While running on rom dated 25 May UMI Super was getting signal extremely fast - a lot faster than Moto X Force, Nexus 4, P8 Lite andy any other phone that I've owned.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one with issues on 3 UK!!

I have tested my wife's 3 sim card in my Super and got exactly the same results - struggles to find and maintain any 4g connection - so I don't think it's a sim issue.

My friend is on vodafone and says his Super and he is receiving pretty steady 4g coverage on his Super.

I am going to see him on Friday and switch sims to see if my phone is faulty.

This is so frustrating!! I love the phone but without 4g it's a deal breaker. I live in an area that 3's coverage checker says has "very good service". I once had a 4g speed test on my Oneplus One clock in at over 80Mb/s but I can rarely connect to 4g with the super.

For UMI's reference here ar the bands my provider uses
Three
2G N/A
3G 2100MHz
4G 800MHz & 1800MHz
