Edited by Johnt at 2016-8-10 14:33 \n\nDoes the GPS and 4G use the same  antenna? Must be a hardware problem effecting both ? How can it pick 3g signals fine and not 4g ??

Xiaomi is not much better at solving issues!
I'm owner of a Redmi Note 3 MTK and very dissapointed by the support because I've reported plenty bugs, none fixed yet !

Edited by saikee at 2016-8-10 18:20 \n\nThere is evidence of Quality Control failure at UMI.

The #55 and #62 posts reported by member Tino show the metal backing plate has one metal contact.

#51 post by UmiIron shows in Youtube another UMI Super phone has two metal contacts at the same location which has been marked "GPS+WIFI".

Tion's metal backing plate has a big "X" marked suggesting it should have been rejected but still ended up in Tino's phone.

It appears UMI has a lot to answer by rushing fective products to the customers.

This UMI Super has two metal contact at the top right corner at the GOS antena backing plate

many people wrote this is a Google problem or an Android problem.
I'm pretty sure this is an UMI hardware problem, as in bencebacsi's words.
Infact we've many people really  happy with this phone.... and the GPS working....
unfortunately I'm one of the unlucky customer.
I don't know how many Super has been sold, but I'm sure that thousend of people is following this topics, so ...
don't forget that the GPS problem is not located on the Super only....
so please UMI give us a solution.
1)If I send the phone back to Cina and it will be lost....?
2)not sure I'll receive a working phone.

Many Thanks

today for the first time since i have the super (aproximativily for 2 months) i succeded to make the gps working good.  I don't know if it because i used an app from google play (gps reset com) and it has reset the gps but i give a try this evening coming back from city center to my home buy feet, i used maps and the navigation was accurate no more jumps and i change also the way to see if maps will recalculate my way home.  Everything was fine.  So maybe give a try and tell if it worked for you

The GPS is not fine and the problem is not with Google Maps. The Umi Super has very low signal from GPS compared to a very cheap cellphone I have. The cheap phone shows my position on Google Maps exactly while the Umi shows my position wandering and jumping all over the place. I have not seen this behavior on any other Android phone and I have had a lot of them :-) I initially put it down to the weak signal but if I move the cheap phone inside, the signal gets weaker but it still maintains a steady position, what happens on Google Maps is that the accuracy decreases, ie the blue circle gets bigger. So this wandering behavior is very odd.
Generally, navigation apps like Here, Waze, Google Maps etc will try to keep the position locked to roads and will to a certain extent ignore spurious positions so some people may not have a problem if they are getting a slightly stronger signal than others. However, if you are interested in knowing your static location for things like Pokemon or Geocaching then the Super in my experience is not usable.

GPS not working at all, always keeps loosing signal and accuracy is 200-300 metres elsewhere than I actually am, totaly unusable...

Will the UMI Super EURO EDITION be better here? Any opinions? UMI should have learned from this mistakes and EURO EDITION could be fixed or? Do we have any infos about his?
