I got Umidigi z2 pro today and it went lock immediately after booting. I can't do the factory reset with this instruction. There never come (after press vol up+power) android figure. It come some Chinese text upper part of screen. Would you give instructions for the phone which doesn't come 'android figure'.

Press and hold the volume-up and power buttons together until your phone restarts. It needs about 10 seconds or a little bit less.

2. When your phone is restarted, immediately release the power button but still hold the vol-up button until you see a lying android figure with an exclamation mark in red triangle on its tummy and ‘No command’.

3. Press and hold the power and vol-up buttons (in this order) together, then release them to call the recovery menu. Now you can move with both volume buttons and select an item with the power button.

4. Move to ‘Wipe cache partition’ and select it.

5. On the next screen press the power button again to reboot your phone.

If your phone still doesn’t work properly, boot into recovery again by following steps 1-3, then

4. Move to Wipe data/factory reset.

5. Scroll down to Yes -- delete all user data

6. On the next screen press the power button again to reboot your phone

JarnoL,

If you get Chinese characters you may have pressed Vol Down with the power button instead of Vol up with the power button!

About the Z2 Pro security issue.
The after-boot-up security check needs a working mobile data connection, even if you're connected to WiFi. So users with disabled or not properly configured (non-working) mobile data connection will not be able to properly enter their security code.
1. Reset in recovery.
2. Configure and enable a working mobile data connection.
3. Select NO when asked about start-up (before boot-up) security check.

I have just tested what you suggested, and again, this is false, Reset in Recovery, Configure and enable working mobile data, is working, select no when asked about start-up.....reboot, and behold, you must do a new factory reset because it is not recognizing the thing you enterd initially. (initial rom if anybody is curios)

I would really like you and your UMI friends to stop trying to find workarounds for a serious issue and give us a working update for the phone we paid good money for, that will actually do not have the need to reset the phone every time we dare to reboot it.

I can appreciate that you are trying to help, but this is not helping, its making it worse and pissing people off even more.

Edited by saikee at 2018-9-20 06:59 \n\nI would have a very low respect of a phone that need a data connection from a sim card to start its life.

UMI is better off to get some good software engineers to write the Android system to suit its phones.

Are you using latest or first version of software?
Did you perform factory reset in settings after ...

I am using the 9-23-18 version which I think is the first one.
I performed a factory reset in recovery menu
I am using a sim and SD card.
I dont know what a sim card security pin is? how would I know if its set?

hemereke,

Thanks for asking.  I checked mine and discovered I have exactly the opposite.  This is to say my Z2 can connect to only the 2.4 Ghz but not the 5 Ghz.  I wouldn't have checked if you didn't ask.

Dalatin21,
The pin asked by the phone is a bug assuming you have set up the security using pin.  The pin or pattern does not work on the factory released Z2 pro even you set it up correctly.  The phone will work if you opt out the security.  I manage mine by password and no extra security when Android boots up.  Using password in my case I can unlock the phone using fingerprint or face recognition.  There are others complaining the password does not work for them.
